SAP BTP Account Architecture Best Practices: A Practitioner's Field GuideSAP BTP Account Architecture Best Practices: A Practitioner's Field GuideLays out BTP account-hierarchy conventions — one subaccount per business domain and environment, a naming pattern, and a service catalogue entry with a named owner and monthly budget — against the common failure of sharing one subaccount across Dev, Test and Production. It also sets out a four-stage CI/CD pipeline that builds, tests in a Dev subaccount, then stages through Test to Production, naming SAP Continuous Integration and Delivery or Jenkins/GitHub Actions with the BTP CLI as the tooling.basanireddy, published 2026-07-10

Part 2: Let's ship some tracesWalks through shipping traces from SAP BTP, Kyma runtime to SAP Cloud Logging: a Kyma TracePipeline resource pointed at the service binding's OTLP endpoint, an Istio Telemetry resource that sets the mesh-wide sampling percentage, and Cloud Logging's Trace Analytics view to filter the resulting spans by service name or request ID. For a multitenant JavaScript CAP application it instruments with @cap-js/telemetry, naming the npm packages to add, and covers Cloud Native Buildpacks and manual Istio header propagation for services outside CAP.gabbi, published 2024-04-19

#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N03-N04)#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N03-N04)Two unrelated findings in one post, which is the format of the series: the OData operators tried against a CAP service — with a schema of deliberately awkward types to try them on — and undeploying database artifacts, which is the half people hit in anger. Architecting Multi-Region HA/DR resiliency patternsArchitecting Multi-Region HA/DR resiliency patternsPatterns for running BTP applications across regions when the default multi-availability-zone resilience is not enough: DNS-based load balancing across regional endpoints with Azure Traffic Manager, Route 53 or Cloud DNS, replication of data and configuration between regions, and the fundamentals of single-region versus multi-region resiliency in its sub-pages. BTP services are multi-AZ by default; a multi-region setup is something the customer architects, and this is SAP's description of how.published 2025-02-19
Autonomous Diagnostics on Kyma Unplugged: Goose + LiteLLM + KRO + SAP AI Core in ProductionAutonomous Diagnostics on Kyma Unplugged: Goose + LiteLLM + KRO + SAP AI Core in ProductionAn in-cluster autonomous diagnostic pipeline on Kyma Unplugged (open-source Kyma, noted to also run on SAP BTP, Kyma runtime): a Goose agent with kubectl access calls SAP AI Core through a LiteLLM proxy, and most of the post is about the quirks of that route — drop_params silently swallowing unrecognised parameters and beta headers, streaming that has to be off when tools are attached, and prompt caching that sits on the Orchestration V2 API rather than the foundation-model path the LiteLLM provider hits. A second Node.js proxy reaches that API, and the author reports caching unconfirmed at production scale, which leaves the roughly $0.004 per static run a target rather than a measured figure. Spend metrics reach SAP Cloud Logging over OTLP through Kyma's Telemetry MetricPipeline while the health analysis itself lands in Kubernetes custom resources read in Busola, and the stack is declared as KRO Resource Group Definitions applied with one Terraform command.quovadis, published 2026-07-09

Authorization management with OpenSearch's Document Level Security - SAP Cloud LoggingAuthorization management with OpenSearch's Document Level Security - SAP Cloud LoggingWhere the predecessor SAP Application Logging service reused CF space permissions for read-only access, SAP Cloud Logging integrates with SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS) and controls per-document visibility through OpenSearch's Document Level Security: an IAS group becomes a backend role, mapped to an OpenSearch role that carries a DLS query filter, so a search request only ever returns documents whose indexed field (space_name, organization_id, or another keyword field) matches what that role's filter allows. It walks through fixed per-space roles, a shared multi-space role using a terms query, and a single dynamic role that substitutes ${user.roles} into the filter so the match is against the caller's own groups, then lists operational pitfalls — wildcard index patterns breaking Dashboards, DLS roles that also hold write access creating log entries nobody can read back, and match queries against a .keyword field being non-deterministic where term queries are exact.Hariharan-Gandhi, published 2025-11-24
From Application Logging to Cloud Logging: Service Innovation GuideFrom Application Logging to Cloud Logging: Service Innovation GuideSAP Cloud Logging replaces SAP Application Logging service, moving each customer from a shared multitenant stack to a dedicated, fully isolated one, and this guide sets out what changes with the move: a deployment per compliance region instead of per Cloud Foundry landscape, SAML/IDP-based authentication instead of Cloud Foundry-bound auth, retention that is configurable instead of fixed at seven days, and hourly capacity-unit pricing instead of fixed-size monthly plans. It also states the deprecation timeline for logging on BTP: SAP Application Logging closes to new or renewed CPEA contracts after 2025-07-31, while contracts signed before that date keep their entitlement until their next renewal.Hariharan-Gandhi, published 2024-11-22
From Application Logging to Cloud Logging: Service Migration GuideFrom Application Logging to Cloud Logging: Service Migration GuideA six-step guide to moving off SAP Application Logging service for SAP BTP onto SAP Cloud Logging: plan the instance layout, set up an Identity Authentication Service tenant for single sign-on to the new service, bind applications to both services in parallel so log data flows to each for comparison, then deprovision the old service once Cloud Logging holds the retained history. It covers what the logging libraries need so custom fields reach both services during the overlap: the CF Node.js library detects both bindings itself from v6.5.0, while the CF Java library has to be configured to retain each custom field at top level. It also gives the deprecation date SAP published for Application Logging under CPEA contracts, 31 July 2025.Hariharan-Gandhi, published 2024-11-22

Performance Trace Node.js App on BTP with DynatracePerformance Trace Node.js App on BTP with DynatraceWalks through wiring Dynatrace as a third-party APM for a Node.js app on SAP BTP, as an alternative to the platform's own internal monitoring: creating an access token and a user-provided service instance, binding it in manifest.yaml, and adding the @dynatrace/oneagent-sdk package for distributed tracing across app router, IDP and connectivity-proxy hops. An appendix covers turning on @sap/approuter's debug-level log output through the XS_APP_LOG_LEVEL environment variable.jeremy_ma_usa, published 2024-09-04
SAP API ManagementのアクセスログをSAP Cloud Loggingで可視化する方法SAP API ManagementのアクセスログをSAP Cloud Loggingで可視化する方法In Japanese. API Management's own screens show call counts but not the individual request log — no audit trail, no header or IP detail, which leaves auth failures hard to diagnose. The author's fix is an API Policy that builds a structured log entry with AssignMessage and forwards it through a syslog drain to SAP Cloud Logging, and confirms the ingest endpoint works by PUTting a test message to it directly with Postman before wiring the policy.yasuyukiuno, published 2025-09-24
SAP Cloud Logging Serviceでコンテナメトリクスを監視するSAP Cloud Logging Serviceでコンテナメトリクスを監視するIn Japanese. Container metrics for a CAP Node.js application into SAP Cloud Logging Service, and the reason it exists is that the obvious route does not apply: Spring Boot Actuator covers the Java side, and Node has no equivalent, so the author reaches for Telegraf instead. The procedure is deliberately independent of application logic — bind the instance, add a startup script and a config file — so it works against an application you already have.kyoneo, published 2024-03-26

Building a SaaS Multitenant Application Using SAP CAP Framework — Without a DatabaseBuilding a SaaS Multitenant Application Using SAP CAP Framework — Without a DatabaseMultitenancy with the database taken out, which is a useful way to see what is left: the approuter and its tenant host pattern, the XSUAA instance in shared tenant mode, and the SaaS Registry binding that makes a subscription happen. Everything here is subscription lifecycle and routing, so the parts that are usually entangled with HDI container provisioning are visible on their own.DebashishDas, published 2026-05-06

CAP multitenancy with Work ZoneCAP multitenancy with Work ZoneA gap in the tooling and the manual edit that closes it. cds add portal wires the Portal service, which is deprecated; Work Zone supports multitenancy but has no equivalent command. The author runs the portal command anyway and then rewrites the resource and module config in mta.yaml to point at Work Zone. Short, and honest that it is a workaround rather than a supported path.published 2025-03-14

Event-Driven Multi-Tenant Architecture on SAP BTP with CAP and SAP Event MeshEvent-Driven Multi-Tenant Architecture on SAP BTP with CAP and SAP Event MeshThe two topics that are usually written about separately, taken together — because a shared broker is where tenant isolation stops being automatic. It starts from why microservices are decoupled at all, places Event Mesh among the four broker services BTP offers, and then works through what changes when the publisher and the consumer are multitenant.ale_biagi, published 2024-12-19
Kyma Evolution: Transforming SAP Kyma into a tailor-made SaaS Platform for sbs extensionsKyma Evolution: Transforming SAP Kyma into a tailor-made SaaS Platform for sbs extensionsWritten by an extensibility expert building against Cloud ERP under clean core, and it treats Kyma as something to shape rather than to adopt — what has to be added to the runtime before it is a SaaS platform for CAP extensions. The Partner Reference Application post is the hands-on sequel.ChristianWeiss, published 2026-02-03

Multitenant SaaS Application using CAPMultitenant SaaS Application using CAPSAP's reference architecture for a multitenant SaaS application on BTP built with CAP: one deployment serving many tenants with logically separated data, the subscription and onboarding flow, and the BTP services the design leans on. Multitenant SaaS applications on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True!Multitenant SaaS applications on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True!The opening post of the Cloud Foundry series, and the one that states the shape of the whole thing: a sample built out of a partner co-innovation project with BCG, then delivered in three graded versions — Basic, Advanced, Expert Features — against a fictional partner's requirements. Multitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Advanced VersionMultitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Advanced VersionWhat the basic version leaves out and production needs: central user management, and reaching an on-premise S/4HANA from a subscribed tenant. Framed as a step towards production readiness rather than as production itself, which is the honest reading — the Expert Features post is where the rest of that distance is covered.published 2022-11-21
Multitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Basic VersionMultitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Basic VersionThe version deliberately bounded by what a trial or pay-as-you-go account can hold — the authors point out a PAYG owner can run it for nothing on free-tier services. SaaS Self-Onboarding and One-Domain Concept in SAP BTP, Kyma Runtime using CAPSaaS Self-Onboarding and One-Domain Concept in SAP BTP, Kyma Runtime using CAPTwo requirements that only appear once a SaaS application has customers: subscribing a tenant end-to-end without the provider doing it by hand, and serving every tenant from one domain instead of one host per subscriber. Kyma runtime, and the post is a summary pointing at an Expert Feature tutorial in the sample repository — it says so itself, offering a one-minute read as the entry point.martinfrick, published 2023-06-01

Setting Up Alerts for SAP Cloud Integration Using SAP Alert Notification ServiceSetting Up Alerts for SAP Cloud Integration Using SAP Alert Notification ServiceWalks through wiring SAP Alert Notification service for SAP BTP to a Cloud Integration tenant: creating the service instance and its OAuth2 service key, adding an email action and a subscription on the CPIIntegrationFlowExecutionFailure event, then deploying SAP's standard alert-notification iflow, which polls the Message Processing Logs API for failures. The author tests the setup by deploying a deliberately failing iflow and confirming the alert email arrives.Nikhil_Gursal, published 2026-03-05

For a multitenant JavaScript CAP application it instruments with @cap-js/telemetry, naming the npm packages to add, and covers Cloud Native Buildpacks and manual Istio header propagation for services outside CAP.gabbi, published 2024-04-19
