SAP GraphQL in CAPm (node.js)SAP GraphQL in CAPm (node.js)Adding the GraphQL protocol adapter to a CAP project when it was new — an entity, some data, the feature switched on, and a check that it answers. Short, and it is the earliest account here of CAP speaking something other than OData.enric101, published 2021-11-29

E2E: SAP Cloud Platform Internet of Things to SAP Analytics CloudE2E: SAP Cloud Platform Internet of Things to SAP Analytics CloudDevice data from ingestion to chart, with CAP occupying the middle: a CDS-defined persistence on HANA Cloud, and an OData service published from it for Analytics Cloud to consume live. The interesting choice is that CAP is used for the model rather than for business logic — there is barely any.Gunter, published 2020-08-31
Empowering Your Data Analytics with GPT-3 and SAP CAP IntegrationEmpowering Your Data Analytics with GPT-3 and SAP CAP IntegrationFree text in, SQL out, answer back in a sentence — the model writes the query, CAP runs it, and the model turns the rows into prose. Written in the GPT-3 window, so the model access has dated, but the three-step shape has not, and it is a different bet from retrieval: nothing is embedded, the schema is the context.Former Member, published 2023-03-10

Connecting Two SAP CAP Projects Without Duplicating Your DataConnecting Two SAP CAP Projects Without Duplicating Your DataCross-container HDI synonyms, argued from the alternatives rather than presented as a recipe: copying the table, standing up an API, or hard-coding the values are the three things the author reports seeing teams do, and each is named as working but unclean. With synonyms in place the consuming project queries the owner's HANA tables through ordinary SQL and ordinary CAP service code, with no replication and nothing to drift between environments. Covers the same ground as Mio Yasutake's 2021 post from a different angle — that one enumerates four topologies, this one argues for one of them.Inderpreet, published 2026-07-08
How to share tables across different CAP projectsHow to share tables across different CAP projectsFour scenarios for reading one CAP project's table from another, worked out as a matrix of what each one needs: the same HDI container and namespace, the same container under a different namespace, a different container, and a different Cloud Foundry space. The mechanics change with each step — @cds.persistence.exists on the reused entity throughout, an .hdbsynonym once namespaces diverge, .hdbrole and .hdbgrants once containers do, and a user-provided service built from the grantor's credentials once spaces do. The author flags the caveat themselves: these are learning scenarios, and consuming the OData service is often the better answer than reaching into another project's database. Dated corrections from twelve days after publication sit inline — synonyms need only the name because the configuration comes from .hdbsynonymconfig, SERVICE_REPLACEMENTS in mta.yaml removes the hard-coded service name, and the reused container need not be bound to the srv module.published 2021-10-03

Behind the Autonomous Enterprise: SAP Knowledge Graph and SAP Domain ModelsBehind the Autonomous Enterprise: SAP Knowledge Graph and SAP Domain ModelsThe strategy behind SAP Business AI's intelligence layer: SAP Knowledge Graph for enterprise context, SAP Domain Models for SAP-specific expertise and tabular AI for predictions, unified on SAP AI Core with SAP Document AI. Knowledge Graph and Domain Models are not atlas entries, so the edges rest on the two products the abstract names as the infrastructure and on Predictive models for the tabular AI; nothing is stated about what any of them does in the layer. A TechEd 2026 session (Tuesday 27 October, Berlin; also ST103V, virtual), presented by Jan Portisch and Richard Grandpierre, written here from SAP's abstract; the recording is not yet published.
Hands on SAP Document AI: Next-generation intelligent document processingHands on SAP Document AI: Next-generation intelligent document processingSAP Document AI configured and run by hand: schema design, splitting and classifying documents, enriching the extracted data and custom prompting are the exercises SAP's abstract names. Document extraction from the configuring side, with the schema the participant's own; which document types or models the exercises use is not stated. A TechEd 2026 hands-on session (Thursday 29 October, Berlin), presented by Christoph Lenschow, Tobias Weller and Tomasz Janasz, written here from SAP's abstract; no recording is announced.
How SAP Document AI brings agentic intelligence to business documentsHow SAP Document AI brings agentic intelligence to business documentsSAP Document AI as SAP's abstract now describes it: composable, agent-ready skills for schemaless extraction, classification and summarisation of business documents, so Joule Agents can read and act on unstructured content, plus new document foundation models and agentic validation in its workflow engine. That widens document extraction past the fixed-schema fields the atlas entry records; the abstract names the features and not their release state. A TechEd 2026 session (Wednesday 28 October, Berlin), presented by Dheeraj Diwan, Soeren Leibach and Tomasz Janasz, written here from SAP's abstract; the recording is not yet published.
Integrate CAP application as outbound channel for SAP Document AIIntegrate CAP application as outbound channel for SAP Document AIDocument AI will call you back when extraction finishes, and the callback is where this goes wrong: the CAP application has to accept an unauthenticated POST from outside without dropping CSRF protection for everything else. The answer is a middleware hooked into the CAP bootstrap, and the post spends its length on the token lifecycle rather than on the extraction.sdeissenboeck, published 2026-04-22
Integrating SAP Document Information Extraction (Document AI) with SAP CAP – Step by StepIntegrating SAP Document Information Extraction (Document AI) with SAP CAP – Step by StepThe forward direction, in full: a PDF or scan arriving at a CAP service, sent to Document Information Extraction, and the fields coming back into the model. SAP Document AISAP Document AISAP's reference architecture for SAP Document AI, first as SAP composes the service on BTP for document extraction: OCR, pretrained models, customer-defined schemas and LLM calls through SAP AI Core and its Prompt Registry in one pipeline, with tenant-isolated persistence in SAP HANA Cloud, PostgreSQL and an object store. Its scenario pages then lay out a solution in three layers: intake through Outlook and SharePoint inbound channels, the workspace UI, the Joule Work mobile app or the upload API; classification and extraction with a confidence score per field, automatic confirmation above a threshold and review of the rest in the workspace; and posting through outbound channels, directly to a REST API, through an SAP Integration Suite flow, or through a CAP service that maps the fields and calls SAP S/4HANA over OData. Enrichment beyond the service's own master data lookup is left to a CAP application or an Integration Suite flow triggered from an outbound channel, and direct API posting leaves error handling, retries and monitoring to the application.published 2026-06-03
Use Free Tier to Create a Service Instance for SAP Document AIUse Free Tier to Create a Service Instance for SAP Document AIFour steps in the SAP BTP cockpit that end with a service key for SAP Document AI: open the cockpit, check the subaccount's entitlements and add the service on the free tier plan if it is not listed, create the instance, then create the key. It names the plans to use in production instead, blocks_of_100, embedded_edition and premium_edition, and stops at the credentials, before any document is uploaded.
Use Free Tier to Subscribe to SAP Document AI Basic UIUse Free Tier to Subscribe to SAP Document AI Basic UIEight steps from an entitled subaccount to the SAP Document AI basic UI open in a browser, and most of them are identity work rather than document work: getting a tenant for Cloud Identity Services, which the basic UI requires, activating the account and establishing trust with the subaccount, then subscribing, creating a user and assigning the Document_Information_Extraction_UI_Templates_Admin role collection. Using the UI to read a document is the subject of Use Machine Learning to Extract Information from Documents with the SAP Document AI Basic UI, which this tutorial names as what to read next.

CAP is important because it's not importantCAP is important because it's not importantAn essay rather than a technique: what CAP actually is, what it gives you, and the case for treating it as foundational precisely because it is not the interesting part of an application. SAP Cloud Logging Serviceでコンテナメトリクスを監視するSAP Cloud Logging Serviceでコンテナメトリクスを監視するIn Japanese. Container metrics for a CAP Node.js application into SAP Cloud Logging Service, and the reason it exists is that the obvious route does not apply: Spring Boot Actuator covers the Java side, and Node has no equivalent, so the author reaches for Telegraf instead. The procedure is deliberately independent of application logic — bind the instance, add a startup script and a config file — so it works against an application you already have.kyoneo, published 2024-03-26

Reusable components for CAP with cds-pluginReusable components for CAP with cds-pluginThe post that taught the mechanism, and it teaches it by picking a requirement small enough to be absurd: every string a service returns should end in a random emoji. Working through that on the bookshop example leaves nothing to argue about except the plumbing, which is the point — what a cds-plugin is, where it hooks in, and why packaging it beats copying it into the next project. Vinícius Barrionuevo credits this post as the thing that gave him the idea for sap-cap-sdm-plugin, and it is hard to read the plugin ecosystem in this graph without it.published 2023-04-30

Ends up covering preflight requests and custom servers, which is the mechanism a frontend hosted outside BTP actually runs into.published 2024-04-11
