cds-textmate-grammar The TextMate grammar for the CDS language, which highlights .cds files where the CDS language server does not run, most visibly in GitHub's own file viewer through Linguist.

@sap/ux-cds-odata-language-server-extension Adds the OData annotation features to @sap/vscode-cds, the CDS plug-in for Visual Studio Code: completion, micro-snippets, diagnostics, vocabulary documentation, Go to Definition and an i18n check inside a .cds file.

Not covered: It stops at those editors. The language server speaks LSP, so any editor could consume it — but packaging that for Zed, Eclipse, Neovim or anything else is left to whoever wants it there.

Packaging of the language server for editors the core does not cover: zed-cds-extension wires it into Zed and cds-eclipse-plugin adds CDS to Eclipse. @saptools/hana-lens compiles a workspace's CAP packages into one CSN cache for lookups.

What changed — and what it makes stale1
@sap/cds-dk 8.8.0, CAP

Before this release, the CDS language server and its VS Code plugin ran on the original CDS parser only. @sap/cds-dk 8.8.0 shipped a new parser — smaller install, faster parsing, better completion — and let the VS Code plugin opt into it via a setting, while the old parser stayed the default until cds9.

Makes stale:

Advice that CDS editor completion and parse speed cannot improve without switching editors. The new parser was opt-in from this release (cds.compiler.useOldParser to stay on the old one) and became the default in cds9.
