Add useful Extensions to Dev spaces in SAP Business Application StudioAdd useful Extensions to Dev spaces in SAP Business Application StudioStarts from the point capire makes — that CAP is editor-agnostic and BAS is the preconfigured option — and then does the thing that undoes preconfiguration: adds two extensions to a dev space for initialising data in a CAP application, with the uninstall procedure as well as the install. The uninstall half is what makes it worth keeping.showkath_naseem, published 2022-11-13
Importing an external data model using CDS Graphical Modeler for Visual Studio CodeImporting an external data model using CDS Graphical Modeler for Visual Studio CodeWalks through the CDS Graphical Modeler for Visual Studio Code: creating a "Customers" entity, importing an external OData model from an edmx file into the CDS model, and drawing a managed association from the new entity to an entity from the imported namespace. The import happens through the modeler's GUI rather than the cds import command, and the imported edmx becomes a CDS file the modeler can open directly.Xiao-fei_Song, published 2022-05-09

CAP Initializr: Generate SAP CAP Projects in SecondsCAP Initializr: Generate SAP CAP Projects in SecondsA hosted project generator for CAP in the shape of Spring Initializr — pick the structure, dependencies and configuration in a browser and download the result, rather than running cds init and then wiring the facets by hand. The post is an MVP announcement asking for feedback, and the tool lives at a Cloud Foundry trial URL rather than on npm, so it is a direction being tested in public rather than something to depend on.Saptarshi017, published 2026-03-23

UI5 MCP Server Got Extended for UI Integration Cards GenerationUI5 MCP Server Got Extended for UI Integration Cards GenerationVersion 0.2.1 of the UI5 MCP Server adds three tools for UI Integration Cards: get_integration_cards_guidelines feeds an agent current best practices and API versions, create_integration_card scaffolds a new card project, and run_manifest_validation checks the generated manifest against the schema. The post frames these as closing the same gaps as the server's existing tools — an LLM's outdated or wrong card API knowledge — this time for scaffolding and validating a card rather than a full app.daniel_vladinov, published 2026-01-22
Useful CAP CDS and Fiori Commands to Accelerate Development and DeploymentUseful CAP CDS and Fiori Commands to Accelerate Development and DeploymentA command-by-command walkthrough of @sap/cds-dk's cds add and fiori add generators: cds add xsuaa writes an XSUAA security configuration from the CDS model's authorization annotations, and cds add hana together with cds deploy --to hana switches persistence from the default SQLite database to SAP HANA Cloud. cds add mta and fiori add deploy-config, from @sap/generator-fiori, build the Cloud Foundry deployment descriptor together, adding a destination-service block and an xs-app.json that routes the Fiori app's calls through a named destination.TiaXu, published 2022-10-19

A Fiori Launchpad Sandbox for all your CAP-based projects - OverviewA Fiori Launchpad Sandbox for all your CAP-based projects - OverviewWhere cds-launchpad-plugin came from, told as a learning exercise: the author wanted a real problem to teach himself TypeScript on, and picked the thing he kept redoing in every CAP project — a launchpad to see all the UI applications in one place. The origin post for an entry whose 2023 update is also indexed here.published 2022-03-14
A Fiori Launchpad Sandbox for all your CAP-based projects – Sample project setupA Fiori Launchpad Sandbox for all your CAP-based projects – Sample project setupThe hands-on half published the same day as the overview: the launchpad module wired into the CAP sample repository, step by step from a global cds-dk install. Same-day pairs like this are worth keeping together — the overview argues, this one is the thing you follow.published 2022-03-14

Fullstack CAP Application with HANA Cloud (Decoupled Architecture) [Part-1]Fullstack CAP Application with HANA Cloud (Decoupled Architecture) [Part-1]The first of six, and it does the thing the later parts depend on: build the Incident Management application against SQLite on a laptop, with no cloud database in sight. The series is called decoupled because the front end and the back end are deployed separately, and this part is entirely the back end.sanjucs, published 2026-05-06

DRY CAP – Making Sustainable Solutions Through PluginsDRY CAP – Making Sustainable Solutions Through PluginsA Devtoberfest 2026 building-apps session on packaging the things you would otherwise write twice, from in-house API clients and shared data models to validation logic, as a CAP plugin. The presenter builds one live: a cds-plugin.js next to package.json is what makes CAP notice the plugin at all, an index.cds carries a reusable user context and service that the consuming application projects into its own and protects there, and the plugin registers an Express middleware at a chosen step of the bootstrap to put user properties on the request. A feature-flagging plugin his team already uses closes it, and the whole walkthrough is the edge to Plugin authoring.SAP Developers, published 2026-10-02
What's in Daniel Hutzel's brain? What's in Daniel Hutzel's brain?A Devtoberfest 2026 session in the building-apps track, in which Daniel Hutzel and DJ Adams work through what the CAP team is building for agents. A bookshop gets an MCP endpoint beside its OData one from a single annotation, with the plugin writing the coding agent's configuration itself; in the xt-travels sample five services that know nothing about each other are served over MCP and an agent does the orchestration the hand-built UI and its value helps used to do. Hutzel then annotates a service as an agent so the ReAct loop and the choice of model move into the CAP service, and finally drops MCP for a skill that teaches the agent CQL instead, which is where the edges to Serve your application over MCP, Agent tooling and Agent guidance come from. The mechanism under all of it, a plugin file in the package root and event handlers that can be added to any CAP service, is the edge to Plugin authoring.published 2026-10-02

How to Restrict CRUD Operations in SAP CAPM Using @Capabilities, @readonly and Test APIs with .httpHow to Restrict CRUD Operations in SAP CAPM Using @Capabilities, @readonly and Test APIs with .httpEntities are exposed with full CRUD by default, and this is how to take operations away again — @Capabilities for Insert, Update and Delete individually, @readonly for the blunt version. Tested with .http files rather than a UI, which keeps the check on the service.DeepaRagho, published 2026-05-22
Testing your CAP HANA Artifacts with jest – including multitenancy, hdbprocedure and hdbviewTesting your CAP HANA Artifacts with jest – including multitenancy, hdbprocedure and hdbviewcds.test covers the service; this covers what is underneath it, where the artifact is an hdbprocedure or an hdbview that CDS never sees. That means a real HDI container, so most of the post is about where to get one and how to give CAP access to it — the tests are the easy part once that is true.Tristan, published 2022-08-30
