Consume Remote Services in a Full-Stack CAP ApplicationConsume Remote Services in a Full-Stack CAP ApplicationExtending the Developer's Guide application with a remote S/4HANA service — connectivity, importing the Business Partner API, and running against it. SAP publishes this as four separate paths: mock server or real S/4HANA Cloud, times Cloud Foundry or Kyma. One entry covers all four, because the difference between them is which backend and which runtime, not what you learn.SAP

Extend SAP SuccessFactors on SAP BTP with the SAP Cloud Application Programming ModelExtend SAP SuccessFactors on SAP BTP with the SAP Cloud Application Programming ModelTwelve tutorials, about two hours, building a side-by-side extension of SuccessFactors on BTP. The spine is remote services: importing the SuccessFactors OData service definitions into a CAP model, then treating them as entities the extension reads and writes through, rather than as an API called from a handler. Indexed as one entry because the parts only make sense in order.SAP
Extending SAP Sales and Service Cloud V2 Using CAPExtending SAP Sales and Service Cloud V2 Using CAPAn extension target that does not run on BTP at all — Sales and Service Cloud V2 sits directly on hyperscalers — so the separation between core and extension is enforced rather than encouraged. Implementing Dynamic Subaccount-Based Routing in SAP CAP with SAP BTP DestinationsImplementing Dynamic Subaccount-Based Routing in SAP CAP with SAP BTP DestinationsWhy environment variables are the wrong place for backend endpoints in a CAP application, and what replaces them: cockpit destinations resolved at runtime, with the subaccount or instance identified as the request is handled. The argument is about redeployment — an endpoint kept in the environment means a deploy every time it moves — and the shape it produces is one codebase serving several landscapes without a build per landscape.Dnyaneshwar Salve, published 2026-03-18

Complete Guide: Setting Up CAP Plugin for Advanced Event Mesh with OAuth AuthenticationComplete Guide: Setting Up CAP Plugin for Advanced Event Mesh with OAuth AuthenticationWritten because the plugin's own documentation stops short of the prerequisites and the author had to assemble them from three other sources and a help chapter. It joins them: the OIDC application in Identity Authentication, the OAuth profile in Broker Manager, the token checked before anything is wired, and only then the plugin. The author says plainly it came out of trial and error and was going to be a README.rpagni, published 2025-11-10

Introducing open-rfc: Calling SAP RFC from Node.js Without the SDKIntroducing open-rfc: Calling SAP RFC from Node.js Without the SDKopen-rfc is a TypeScript and JavaScript RFC client for Node.js with no runtime dependencies and no SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK, written after SAP archived node-rfc and PyRFC and while the connector below @sap/cds-rfc needs an S-user, an SAP Build Code licence and a private registry. The history of RFC connectivity from Node.js is the first half; the second shows the package on its own, as an npm alias for node-rfc, and through an npm override as the connector below an unchanged @sap/cds-rfc. The 0.2.3 beta stops at direct application-server connections with password authentication and classic Unicode RFC: no message-server load balancing, SNC, tRFC, qRFC, bgRFC or server mode.published 2026-08-10
Creating an ARC-1 BTP Diagram with Codex and a draw.io SkillCreating an ARC-1 BTP Diagram with Codex and a draw.io SkillThe sap-architecture skill from marianfoo/btp-drawio-skill draws architecture diagrams as editable draw.io files in SAP Architecture Center style by copying the closest of 71 bundled SAP reference templates, or a built-in fallback layout, then validating, scoring and rendering the result for the model to inspect; it takes ideas from Wouter Lemaire's btp-solution-diagram-generator and from claude-drawio-btp-diagram. Codex ran it on an L2 diagram of ARC-1 on BTP Cloud Foundry, reached from VS Code over MCP and passing through XSUAA, Destination, Connectivity and Cloud Connector to an on-premise ABAP system, and the first pass validated and scored 100 while labelling the flows HTTPS and OData/REST instead of MCP and ADT REST. The post draws its boundary from that run: the checks read the file's visual structure and cannot tell whether the architecture is right, and a diagram with no close template still needs manual draw.io work.published 2026-07-09

How to consume UI5 custom libraries in BAS or VS CodeHow to consume UI5 custom libraries in BAS or VS CodeConsuming a custom UI5 library from a UI5 application locally, using yarn workspaces to resolve the dependency instead of adjusting the project before every deploy. Before You Upgrade S/4HANA: Static UI5 Checks with MCPBefore You Upgrade S/4HANA: Static UI5 Checks with MCPA UI5 version upgrade checked against one app by pairing two MCP servers: the ui5_version_diff tool added to mcp-sap-docs, which reads a bundle from ui5-lib-diff downloaded once at setup and filters it by version range, change type, library or query text, and @ui5/mcp-server, whose get_project_info, get_version_info, run_ui5_linter and run_manifest_validation say what the app uses and what fails. Run with a ui5-versions-upgrade.md skill on the legacy app from From SEGW and Legacy UI5 to RAP with ARC-1, from SAPUI5 1.84.59 to 1.147.2, the diff range held 985 deprecations and 961 What's New entries, and the linting and manifest validation narrowed that to findings in this app, among them jQuery.sap.require, synchronous bootstrap, the sap_belize theme, sap.m.MessagePage and an old manifest _version. The checks read the source in a local checkout and never the deployed app, so the report is a first pass: a changelog entry is not proof that a workaround can be deleted, and the app still has to be run and tested.published 2026-05-20
Introducing eslint-plugin-better-cap-config an ESLint plugin to improve CAP configurationIntroducing eslint-plugin-better-cap-config an ESLint plugin to improve CAP configurationThe author's own announcement, and precise about scope: today it catches deprecated key/value entries in CAP's JSON configuration, and the ambition is that it grows into best practices, suggestions and autofixes the way any ESLint plugin does. The implementation detail worth knowing is that it uses modern ESLint's JSON language support rather than a generic parser, which is what makes linting a configuration file rather than source code work at all.published 2025-09-08

Reusable components for CAP with cds-pluginReusable components for CAP with cds-pluginThe post that taught the mechanism, and it teaches it by picking a requirement small enough to be absurd: every string a service returns should end in a random emoji. Working through that on the bookshop example leaves nothing to argue about except the plumbing, which is the point — what a cds-plugin is, where it hooks in, and why packaging it beats copying it into the next project. Vinícius Barrionuevo credits this post as the thing that gave him the idea for sap-cap-sdm-plugin, and it is hard to read the plugin ecosystem in this graph without it.published 2023-04-30
