Notifications
Telling a person something happened when they are not looking at the screen — a notification in the launchpad, an email, a message somewhere they already are.
Overview
@cap-js/notifications Publishes business notifications to SAP Build WorkZone from the application, so a user is told something happened without the UI polling for it.
com.sap.cds:cds-feature-notifications Sends business notifications from a CAP Java application through SAP Alert Notification service, delivered to SAP Build Work Zone or email, or logged to the console in local mode.
Not covered: At the channels capire names, Work Zone and email. A person reached anywhere else, by chat or by a phone's push message, is written on top.
In ABAP the notification is raised by the backend system itself: an application log error turned into a launchpad notification, a push message sent to SAP Mobile Services, an HTML mail built from a template, or an RSS feed that ADT subscribes to.
The Notification Channel is SAP's framework for delivering notifications from ABAP applications, with a backend provider interface, SAP Fiori launchpad integration and configuration for push channels. Mail goes out through Business Communication Services, where CL_BCS builds a send request from a document, a sender and its recipients.
Not covered: At delivery. Neither decides when an application should tell someone, and CL_BCS sends a document the application has already built, so an HTML body filled from a template or a feed a reader polls is written on top.
The independent entries are written on top of delivery: a launchpad notification raised from an application log, push messages to SAP Mobile Services, HTML mail from a template, an RSS feed, and the failure mail of a process framework such as ABAP-PRCABAP-PRCA framework for custom multi-step ABAP processes: a process class declares the states, and the framework runs each document through them and monitors the run.independent, abap. How they relate to the Notification Channel and to Business Communication Services has not been assessed.
