Generate agentic workflows using SAP-managed n8n in Joule StudioGenerate agentic workflows using SAP-managed n8n in Joule StudioSAP-managed n8n inside Joule Studio generates a workflow from a business intent a developer states, and the workflow is then tested and deployed, consuming line-of-business application APIs, events and agents in SAP Business AI Platform: process automation with the workflow generated from intent, and agent tooling where the workflow calls agents. The generated workflow sends notifications to the Joule Work mobile app of SAP Joule, to Microsoft Teams or to Slack. SAP's abstract names the pieces and not how the generation or the n8n hosting works. A two-hour hands-on TechEd 2026 session (Tuesday 27 October, Berlin), presented by Rama Sulakshani Murari, Rumen Dimitrov, Seshadri Sreenivas Ramanarayanan and Venugopal Chembrakalathil, written here from SAP's abstract; the recording is not yet published.
Guide to Process Automation APIs - Part I - Getting StartedGuide to Process Automation APIs - Part I - Getting StartedExplains how to call SAP Build Process Automation's REST and OData APIs directly: OAuth2 client credentials with a service key runs as the service, while a user token (OAuth2JWTBearer) runs as the calling person, which matters wherever an API records who acted — approving a task, or reading instances from a shared environment. Since the Public environment is deprecated as of the end of 2025, a call into any other environment also needs an environmentId query parameter.Dan_Wroblewski, published 2025-07-14
How to Approve/Reject Task via API in SAP Build Process AutomationHow to Approve/Reject Task via API in SAP Build Process AutomationWalks through the Workflow API's /task-instances PATCH call that SAP Build Process Automation exposes to approve or reject a user task from outside its Inbox, matching the instance ID from the Monitoring tab and the identifier of the button the approval form defines. Covers the permission split between an authenticated user, who needs the ProcessAutomationAdmin or ProcessAutomationParticipant role collection to appear as the one who completed the task, and Client Credentials, which completes it as a generic client identity, plus the error codes the API returns for a missing instance, an already-completed task or an invalid status.Dan_Wroblewski, published 2025-02-10
Navigating the road map for SAP Cloud ERP: Today, next, and beyondNavigating the road map for SAP Cloud ERP: Today, next, and beyondSAP's near-term and long-term plans for SAP Cloud ERP by theme: embedded AI, process automation, lifecycle management and extensibility, with timelines and adoption paths toward what SAP calls the Autonomous Enterprise. SAP Cloud ERP has no artifact here, so the edges are to the two concerns the road map names, Extensibility and Process automation; the abstract names no product or feature under either, and whether its process automation is SAP Build Process Automation is not stated. A TechEd 2026 session (Tuesday 27 October, Berlin; also TM815V, virtual), presented by Lawrence Martin and Sasa Markovic, written here from SAP's abstract; the recording is not yet published.
SAP Codejam on Event Driven Build ProcessSAP Codejam on Event Driven Build ProcessA hands-on CodeJam walkthrough of an event-driven flow: a Business Partner creation event from a simulated S/4HANA Cloud system is published to SAP Advanced Event Mesh, where the author configures topics, queues and subscriptions and forwards it through a REST Delivery Point to SAP Build Process Automation, which runs a business process with a human approval step and an asynchronous callback to a third-party system. The event producer stays unaware of its consumers, with SAP Build acting purely as an orchestrator reacting to events.Sharathmg, published 2026-02-03
SAP MDG Cloud Ready Mode: 5 Solution Patterns, Zero BADIs: How We implemented 5 typical requirementsSAP MDG Cloud Ready Mode: 5 Solution Patterns, Zero BADIs: How We implemented 5 typical requirementsA field report from an 80%-complete SAP MDG-BP Cloud Ready Mode implementation, showing five requirements it met without BAdIs or modification: business-partner context and the MDG UI shown inside the My Inbox app, rule-based multi-step approval routing with exclusive-choice nodes, agent determination through BTP role collections, and role-specific Fiori App Variants that give Finance Experts only bank-detail fields while Approvers get full write access. Each pattern works the same way underneath — a BTP Workflow service task reads business-partner attributes over OData into the workflow context, and a user task, route or app variant reacts to it — built with key-user extensibility or SAP Business Application Studio rather than custom ABAP.steffen_ulmer, published 2026-06-01
Everything new: Try out the latest features in CAPEverything new: Try out the latest features in CAPCAP (@sap/cds) gains the features this hands-on session works through: declarative constraints, which is the input validation concern, status flows as status transition flows, a cds REPL, extensibility through @sap/cds-oyster, and HCQL, which SAP's abstract calls CAP's native query-over-HTTP protocol, after an opening stretch of AI-driven app development. The abstract names the features and stops there; what each one does is not described. A TechEd 2026 hands-on session (Wednesday 28 October, Berlin), presented by Daniel Hutzel, Daniel Schlachter, Marc Huber and Tim Back, written here from SAP's abstract; the recording is not yet published.
A modern workflow for SAP Cloud Integration with CAP and Azure DevOpsA modern workflow for SAP Cloud Integration with CAP and Azure DevOpsCAP used to build tooling rather than an application: the development workflow for Cloud Integration is limited to what the Integration Suite offers, so the author puts a CAP service and Azure DevOps around it. An unusual use of the framework, and the reason to read it.marcel_schork62, published 2023-06-27

Consuming SAP Build API's made easy with SAP Cloud SDK in your CAP applicationConsuming SAP Build API's made easy with SAP Cloud SDK in your CAP applicationReaching into SBPA from CAP the other way round — reading its tasks and workflows rather than starting them. The author starts from the plain Axios version and says what it costs: the connection and the authentication are the work, not the call. Cloud SDK is used to generate a typed client from the OpenAPI document and then to resolve the connection through either a service binding or a destination, shown for client credentials and for user token exchange.maheshpalavalli, published 2023-02-08

Extensions for SAP Build Process Automation - Actions from CAP Node.js ServiceExtensions for SAP Build Process Automation - Actions from CAP Node.js ServiceThe direction of travel reversed: the CAP service is the thing being called, exposed as an Action so that a no-code process can consume it. Short by design — it is an introduction to a developer tutorial, and it says outright that the goal is to cover every step rather than to model a real use case.TJe, published 2023-01-13

SAP Build Process Automation – Use Principal Propagation in Actions sample: CAP Node.js ServiceSAP Build Process Automation – Use Principal Propagation in Actions sample: CAP Node.js ServiceThe follow-up that carries the identity through. It takes the CAP service from the Actions tutorial and puts the calling user's identity behind it — an XSUAA instance, a trust configuration, an OAuthSAMLBearerAssertion destination, and the service changed to use that instance — so a step runs on behalf of a person rather than as the process.TJe, published 2023-06-22

SAP Build Process Automationで「グループ宛て承認ワークフロー」を構築するSAP Build Process Automationで「グループ宛て承認ワークフロー」を構築するWalks through building a group-addressed approval workflow in SAP Build Process Automation: a user group created in SAP Cloud Identity Services is bound to the app so an approval step can send one request to every group member's inbox at once, closing as soon as any one of them acts. The approval form shown in that inbox carries a Claim button that hides a claimed task from the other members, and the workflow's approval step binds its group recipients to the field the requester chose on the start form.takayuki_tanaka, published 2025-07-25
Trigger an SAP Build Process Automation Workflow from CAP Using the @cap-js/process PluginTrigger an SAP Build Process Automation Workflow from CAP Using the @cap-js/process PluginA step-by-step setup for starting a Build Process Automation workflow from CAP through the plugin rather than through direct REST calls, which is how it had to be done before. Covers both ends: deploying the process in the SBPA designer and finding the workflow instance id it produces, then wiring the CAP side to it. Workflow development using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model and SAP Build Process AutomationWorkflow development using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model and SAP Build Process AutomationAn argument about where logic belongs rather than a wiring guide. The author's case is that pulling mapping, preprocessing and JavaScript into the process model makes it unreadable to the process owner who has to maintain it, so the model should stay thin and CAP should hold the domain model, the authorisation annotations, the events and the API consumption. Each of those is then shown in turn against SBPA — including publishing CAP events into process visibility.Venugopal, published 2025-02-18

ABAP + MCP: Let AI Do Real Development in Your SAP SystemABAP + MCP: Let AI Do Real Development in Your SAP Systemabap-adt-mcp is an open-source MCP server that gives an AI agent full ABAP development capability over ADT: it searches, reads, edits, activates and unit-tests objects, and runs ATC checks, on a connected S/4HANA Cloud or on-premise system, acting as the signed-in developer. It runs on abap-adt-api, the same REST client Eclipse's own ADT tooling uses, and sits beside SAP's own ADT MCP Server, shipped with ADT for VS Code and Eclipse under a different server key, and marianfoo's abap-docs, a read-only server over the ABAP Keyword Documentation and Clean ABAP. Each destination carries a policy — read-only, allowed packages, denied tables and tools — the server checks before every call, and an optional audit file logs each tool call with its outcome and policy gate.Willian_Saez, published 2026-09-03
Enhancing cyber resilience through AI-enabled tabletop exercisesEnhancing cyber resilience through AI-enabled tabletop exercisesAn AI-enabled platform that generates incident response tabletop exercises, evaluates them and improves them over time, built on cybersecurity frameworks, incident response documentation, system architecture and historical incident data, and producing a scenario and an ideal response model for each. The platform has no entry here and the abstract names nothing the atlas holds; the edge is to Documentation only because the abstract names incident response documentation as an input, which is not the concern of documenting your own project that the capability covers. Build an AI-assisted known error database with SAP Integration SuiteBuild an AI-assisted known error database with SAP Integration SuiteThe AI adapter in SAP Integration Suite builds a known error database for integration support: runtime exceptions are captured, analysed by a model, matched against past incidents, and a resolution is proposed, so the base grows with each case. SAP's abstract names the adapter and the four steps, and claims shorter troubleshooting time without a figure.
