ui5-tooling-less
A UI5 CLI extension, a build task and a dev-server middleware, that compiles an app's Less files into CSS at build time and live while the UI5 server runs.
UI5 apps that style themselves with Less need those files compiled to CSS both while developing and at build time. This extension supplies both halves: a build task that compiles the Less files listed under sap.ui5/resources/css in the manifest, or matched by a configured glob, and a middleware that live-compiles them while the UI5 server is running. A Less file can import variables from a UI5 library's own theme, framework or custom, provided the import uses the library's runtime resource path rather than a relative one.

👋 This is an open‑source, community‑driven project, developed and actively monitored by members of the UI5 community. You are welcome to use it, report issues, contribute enhancements, and support others in the community.
The project includes a task for ui5-builder, enabling compiling of less files in your app folder, and a middleware for ui5-server, live compiling less files.

⚠️ UI5 CLI Compatibility All releases of this UI5 CLI extension using the major version
3require UI5 CLI V3. Any previous releases below major version3(if available) also support older versions of the UI5 CLI. But the usage of the latest UI5 CLI is strongly recommended!

The UI5 CLI extension can be used to compile less files in your app folder by using less-openui5.
It can also include less file from UI5 library dependencies (framework and custom ones), e.g.:
@import "/resources/sap/ui/core/themes/base/base.less";To get all the less variable that are defined in the sap ui theme core, or, e.g.:
@import "/resources/ui5/ecosystem/showcase/lib/css/variables.less";Important is that every less resources imported from outside the application project must use the runtime path (e.g. /resources/%project_namespace%/...) and all local less files can be imported with relative paths (e.g. ./base/base.less).
The task derives the available less files from the manifest (section: sap.ui5/resources/css) unless you specify a glob pattern in the task configuration to include e.g. all less resources:
