Overview
Finding where a string, a pattern or a name occurs across what an ABAP system holds: source in programs, classes, enhancements and CDS definitions, and also program variants and dictionary objects, searched inside the system and not in files on disk. Raising findings against a rule is static analysisStatic analysisCatching problems in code before it runs: naming, obsolete statements, security findings, and compatibility with a target environment. Style linting, security scanning and cloud-readiness checks are often treated as one concern.SAP and community, narrow by design; reading one change is code reviewCode reviewReading a change before it moves on: which files or objects a change contains, what changed in each since an earlier version, and what a reviewer decided about each part. The ABAP Source Search in ADT finds text in source-based repository objects and message classes once the SRIS_SOURCE_SEARCH business function is active, and the report RS_ABAP_SOURCE_SCAN searches ABAP source from SAP GUI.
Not covered: At source text. The ADT page names no search over program variants or dictionary objects, and its index needs the business function and at least 10 GB of free database memory before it runs.
