ABAP Code Search

An Eclipse plugin that searches ABAP sources from the Eclipse search dialog, either in the client over the ADT API or inside the system through its own backend.

Sits in the Eclipse search dialog, reached with Ctrl+H, and searches ABAP sources with a scope filtered by object type or application component, regular expressions and multiline patterns. It runs in two modes: client-based, where the ADT API retrieves the source and the search happens in Eclipse, which needs ABAP 7.51 and a HANA database but no backend; and server-based, where the search runs entirely in the system through the abap-code-search-tools backend and only the results come back. The object types it searches are classes, interfaces, programs, type groups, function groups, data definitions, metadata extensions, access controls, behaviour definitions, simple transformations, structures, database tables and, from v1.16.0 with backend v1.7.0, service definitions. Its source sits in the eclipse-adt-plugins mono repo under features/code-search, and it installs from the maintainer's own Eclipse update site or from the Eclipse Marketplace.

Conditions

PracticalFunctional boundary

On a system below ABAP 7.51, or one without a connected HANA database, the client-based mode does not run, and the server-based mode is only available where the abap-code-search-tools backend is installed in the system.
