Autonomous Diagnostics on Kyma Unplugged: Goose + LiteLLM + KRO + SAP AI Core in ProductionAutonomous Diagnostics on Kyma Unplugged: Goose + LiteLLM + KRO + SAP AI Core in ProductionAn in-cluster autonomous diagnostic pipeline on Kyma Unplugged (open-source Kyma, noted to also run on SAP BTP, Kyma runtime): a Goose agent with kubectl access calls SAP AI Core through a LiteLLM proxy, and most of the post is about the quirks of that route — drop_params silently swallowing unrecognised parameters and beta headers, streaming that has to be off when tools are attached, and prompt caching that sits on the Orchestration V2 API rather than the foundation-model path the LiteLLM provider hits. A second Node.js proxy reaches that API, and the author reports caching unconfirmed at production scale, which leaves the roughly $0.004 per static run a target rather than a measured figure. Spend metrics reach SAP Cloud Logging over OTLP through Kyma's Telemetry MetricPipeline while the health analysis itself lands in Kubernetes custom resources read in Busola, and the stack is declared as KRO Resource Group Definitions applied with one Terraform command.quovadis, published 2026-07-09
Implementation of Observability using OpenTelemetry in SAP BTPImplementation of Observability using OpenTelemetry in SAP BTPTracing across a landscape rather than inside one service — BTP applications, integrations, workflows and automations that also call non-SAP microservices the customer runs. That span is where correlation stops being a nice-to-have, and it is the half @cap-js/telemetry's automatic instrumentation does not reach on its own.Deepankar, published 2025-02-05
S/4HANA Observability: Streaming SAP Cloud ALM & LogServ Telemetry to BigQuery & Vertex AIS/4HANA Observability: Streaming SAP Cloud ALM & LogServ Telemetry to BigQuery & Vertex AIWalks through pulling SAP Cloud ALM's Outbound Logs, Metrics and Traces APIs — OAuth 2.0 client-credentials auth, protobuf-encoded OTLP payloads, and the guardrails needed against its rate limits and 24 GB/30-day retention baseline — plus SAP LogServ's infrastructure logs, into Google BigQuery for multi-year, cross-domain storage. A time-window SQL join then correlates ABAP exceptions, health metrics, infrastructure events and ITSM tickets, with the joined record passed to Vertex AI (Gemini) to draft a structured incident dossier.Rudrapuneet, published 2026-07-22
Multitenant SaaS Application using CAPMultitenant SaaS Application using CAPSAP's reference architecture for a multitenant SaaS application on BTP built with CAP: one deployment serving many tenants with logically separated data, the subscription and onboarding flow, and the BTP services the design leans on. How to Use NPM Modules Like crypto-js in SAPUI5 Using UI5 Tooling ModulesHow to Use NPM Modules Like crypto-js in SAPUI5 Using UI5 Tooling ModulesWalks through adding ui5-tooling-modules to a SAPUI5 project on UI5 Tooling v3: installing the npm package crypto-js alongside it, then wiring a ui5-tooling-modules-task builder task and a ui5-tooling-modules-middleware dev-server middleware into ui5.yaml so the UI5 module loader can resolve it. A controller then loads crypto-js/sha256 through sap.ui.define and calls it like any other AMD dependency, with the stated limit that the pattern works only inside a controller or other AMD-style module, not through a top-level import or require().DakshKumarSingh, published 2025-09-04
UI Composition with Application Frontend ServiceUI Composition with Application Frontend ServiceWhy shared UI code is hard, and what Application Frontend changes about it. The piece first lays out the three usual answers and what each costs — copying files at development time and repatching every consumer, publishing an npm package and rebuilding every consumer, or hosting the code separately and paying for it in CORS and session handling, or in an extra network hop through a server-side proxy. It then shows a fourth that only this service can do: runtime server-side composition without the hop, configured through routes in the consuming application's xs-app.json, across three cases — a reusable application embedded in a consumer, and two further composition shapes. Read alongside the generator, which scaffolds the mta.yaml, xs-app.json and zipper configuration this model needs.Vadim Tomnikov, published 2026-05-18
Multi-Origin Service Testing and Troubleshooting in SAP GatewayMulti-Origin Service Testing and Troubleshooting in SAP GatewayWalks through testing a multi-origin OData service in SAP Gateway by passing the $system parameter against a System Alias defined in /IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE, verified with the SAP Gateway Client (/IWFND/GW_CLIENT) and from outside the system with a browser or Postman. Covers three recurring failures — an ignored $system, a 500 from an unconfigured RFC destination or inactive backend service, and a 403 from a missing backend authorization — and how to confirm which alias and backend a request actually hit with /IWFND/TRACES.Ravikumar_H1, published 2025-08-19

Debugging in ABAP Development Tool (Part 1)Debugging in ABAP Development Tool (Part 1)A walkthrough of the ABAP Debugger inside ABAP Development Tools: setting a toggle (hard) breakpoint versus a soft breakpoint that only fires once a session is already active, running up to four debugging sessions on the same program, reading the call stack, and debugging an update function module. It also covers watchpoints with their recent and current values, conditional and user-specific breakpoints, activating and deleting breakpoints, and adding variables such as SY-INDEX to the variables tab.M_Sumaiya_Khatoon, published 2025-09-02
ABAP + MCP: Let AI Do Real Development in Your SAP SystemABAP + MCP: Let AI Do Real Development in Your SAP Systemabap-adt-mcp is an open-source MCP server that gives an AI agent full ABAP development capability over ADT: it searches, reads, edits, activates and unit-tests objects, and runs ATC checks, on a connected S/4HANA Cloud or on-premise system, acting as the signed-in developer. It runs on abap-adt-api, the same REST client Eclipse's own ADT tooling uses, and sits beside SAP's own ADT MCP Server, shipped with ADT for VS Code and Eclipse under a different server key, and marianfoo's abap-docs, a read-only server over the ABAP Keyword Documentation and Clean ABAP. Each destination carries a policy — read-only, allowed packages, denied tables and tools — the server checks before every call, and an optional audit file logs each tool call with its outcome and policy gate.Willian_Saez, published 2026-09-03
ABAP development tools for Visual Studio Code is now available on the VS Code marketplace!ABAP development tools for Visual Studio Code is now available on the VS Code marketplace!Announces the marketplace release of ABAP development tools for Visual Studio Code, an extension that works against any ABAP system already reachable from ADT for Eclipse and is focused on RAP UI service development, so the Fiori/SAPUI5 frontend and the ABAP backend can be built in the same tool. It ships a built-in ADT MCP Server, disabled by default and switched on from the extension settings, and points readers to a documentation template for capturing ABAP-specific rules in a project's AGENTS.md file for chat agents such as Microsoft Copilot.thomasalexander_ritter, published 2026-06-01

HANA SQL NOTEBOOKS in SAP BUILD / Business Application Studio(BAS) / Visual Studio CodeHANA SQL NOTEBOOKS in SAP BUILD / Business Application Studio(BAS) / Visual Studio CodeWalks through SAP HANA SQL Notebooks, a .notebook file opened inside a dev space of SAP Business Application Studio (also reached from SAP Build and Visual Studio Code), that mixes CODE and MARKDOWN blocks and needs the project's mta and hana facets added first with cds add. A CODE block's connection-management mode uses a '#' syntax to list, select and show the active SAP HANA connection, drawn from the HANA Database Explorer's saved connections or the project's own Cloud Foundry connection, so any valid SQL statement can then run against the project's HDI container.published 2025-01-01

S/4HANA公有云版的内部ABAP拓展S/4HANA公有云版的内部ABAP拓展Argues that S/4HANA Cloud public edition's in-app ABAP extensibility is still real ABAP development, just under stricter rules: developer extensions require ABAP Development Tools rather than SAP GUI transactions, data models are defined as CDS views instead of SE11 tables, business logic is a RAP behavior definition instead of a function module, and service exposure is an auto-generated OData service from a Service Definition instead of a hand-built RFC/BAPI. The piece walks a worked example — a Fiori app that triggers the Purchase Requisition API — through CDS, RAP, OData activation on SAP Gateway, and authorization via business catalogues, and frames the whitelist of released APIs and CDS views as upgrade-safety rather than a restriction.ArthurYang, published 2025-11-24

Building an SAP BTP Agent Architecture from Scratch: Python + CAP + HANABuilding an SAP BTP Agent Architecture from Scratch: Python + CAP + HANAA first-person build log of a Flask orchestrator on Cloud Foundry that reduces a question to keywords, searches a Node.js service's Documents entity, and passes what it finds to Claude for a grounded answer. Getting there means learning that HANA's fuzzy .search() matches one word but not a full sentence, fixed by splitting the query into terms and merging the per-term hits, and that provisioning SAP HANA Cloud hits a database-level free-tier quota rather than an HDI-container one, with a stopped instance needing to be resumed first. It also covers @sap/cds-dk needing to sit in dependencies rather than devDependencies, since Cloud Foundry's buildpack skips the latter, before cds deploy --to hana can run as part of the push.neilaspin, published 2026-07-28
CAP Initializr: Generate SAP CAP Projects in SecondsCAP Initializr: Generate SAP CAP Projects in SecondsA hosted project generator for CAP in the shape of Spring Initializr — pick the structure, dependencies and configuration in a browser and download the result, rather than running cds init and then wiring the facets by hand. The post is an MVP announcement asking for feedback, and the tool lives at a Cloud Foundry trial URL rather than on npm, so it is a direction being tested in public rather than something to depend on.Saptarshi017, published 2026-03-23

Deploying a CAP app with Fiori app standalone (HTML5 Repo Host)Deploying a CAP app with Fiori app standalone (HTML5 Repo Host)A step-by-step alternative to deploying a CAP app's Fiori frontend through SAP Workzone or Launchpad: exposing it to the SAP HTML5 Application Repository service for SAP BTP instead of serving it straight from @sap/approuter, for zero-downtime content updates, versioning and permissions. It builds a sample with @sap/cds-dk's cds add hana,html5-repo,approuter,mta and cds add xsuaa --for production, generates the Fiori app through Business Application Studio's module wizard, then wires the app router's xs-app.json routes, the mta.yaml service binding and SAP Authorization and Trust Management service before building with mbt and deploying to SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry Runtime.Christopher_Ketzler, published 2025-04-22

UI5 MCP Server Got Extended for UI Integration Cards GenerationUI5 MCP Server Got Extended for UI Integration Cards GenerationVersion 0.2.1 of the UI5 MCP Server adds three tools for UI Integration Cards: get_integration_cards_guidelines feeds an agent current best practices and API versions, create_integration_card scaffolds a new card project, and run_manifest_validation checks the generated manifest against the schema. Building Secure SAPUI5 Applications: Best Practices for DevelopersBuilding Secure SAPUI5 Applications: Best Practices for DevelopersA developer-facing rundown of secure coding habits for SAPUI5 apps: typed bindings and custom formatters to reject bad input before it reaches a handler, encodeHTML() instead of rendering untrusted HTML, keeping tokens and URLs out of local and session storage, and CSRF token handling on the ODataModel. It sets up linting with ESLint and an eslint-config-ui5 rule set to catch unsafe DOM access, eval calls and unused imports as part of CI, alongside the same input validation instinct: reject invalid input early rather than trust the backend to catch it.Manisha_19, published 2025-12-10

The implementation detail worth knowing is that it uses modern ESLint's JSON language support rather than a generic parser, which is what makes linting a configuration file rather than source code work at all.published 2025-09-08

This first version only handles that one class of deprecation — replacing deprecated globals with imports — with more fix types left for later releases tracked on the tool's GitHub roadmap.published 2025-03-19

Random Numbers and Probability Distributions in the ABAP Environments for 2508Random Numbers and Probability Distributions in the ABAP Environments for 2508Introduces CL_ABAP_PROB_DISTRIBUTION and CL_ABAP_PROB_DISTRIBUTION_DF34, new ABAP system classes that generate random numbers from a distribution — normal, lognormal, exponential, gamma, chi-squared, Poisson, binomial, Student's t, hypergeometric, geometric — rather than only the uniform spread CL_ABAP_RANDOM gives. The worked example builds customer payment dates clustered around a due date instead of spread evenly across it, which is the shape seed data needs to look real rather than merely present; the same classes also compute CDFs and quantiles for statistical tests like a t-test on payment lateness. By-passing function modules in aunitsBy-passing function modules in aunitsWalks through registering a function module as a test double with CL_FUNCTION_TEST_ENVIRONMENT inside an ABAP Unit test class: class_setup names the function module to replace, an input configuration matches on the importing parameters, and an output configuration sets what the double returns before the calling class is asserted against it. The Function Test Double Framework is presented as ABAP Unit's way of testing code that calls a function module — procedural, without a class's native test-double support — without triggering the database, RFC or BAPI calls the real function module would make.Jagadish_R31, published 2026-06-01

The Fourth Way to Go Offline in UI5 (And Why the Service Worker Stays Dumb)The Fourth Way to Go Offline in UI5 (And Why the Service Worker Stays Dumb)Reporting on the UI5Con session run by Viktor Sperling and Lars Kissel, the post proposes a fourth offline architecture for a warehouse scanning app: a service worker kept deliberately ignorant of OData, and a JSONModel/IndexedDB layer that does an explicit download, work, submit cycle, queuing local mutations before posting one $batch with a single changeSet at the end of a session. It also works through the alternative v4.ODataModel change-buffer pattern (updateGroupId, submitBatch) and explains why Fiori elements' annotation-driven, live OData V4 interactions resist offline replay. The session-token and XSRF-expiry problem for long offline periods is named as an open gap rather than solved.Noel_Hendrikx, published 2026-07-15
A simple example of a SAP RAP Application based on Legacy API without UUID keysA simple example of a SAP RAP Application based on Legacy API without UUID keysWalks through building a managed RAP business object over the Flight Reference Scenario's Travel and Booking entities with unmanaged save and late numbering, so CRUD operations route through the legacy /DMO/FLIGHT_TRAVEL_CREATE, _UPDATE and _DELETE function modules instead of generated persistence, a worked case of ABAP's transactional model. Users and role assignments come from Cloud Identity Services, and the components inside the subscription, among them Notifications, SAP Mobile Services and UI Theme Designer, cannot be decoupled from the product, so a custom mobile app needs its own SAP Mobile Services subscription.published 2026-05-22

New POD 2.0 Framework: The New Generation of SAP Digital Manufacturing Worker UIsNew POD 2.0 Framework: The New Generation of SAP Digital Manufacturing Worker UIsThe opening post of SAP's sixteen-part series on POD 2.0, the UI framework inside SAP Digital Manufacturing for building worker-facing execution screens: it replaces the architectural foundation of the existing POD model, drops the fixed POD types such as Work Center and Order in favour of POD templates, and exposes contextual execution data directly to the UI layer. The edge to POD plugins holds on what it states about plugins themselves: the large monolithic plugins of the old framework have been broken into smaller, focused components, and layout, dialogs, buttons and actions that previously required UI extensions or custom plugins are configured in a WYSIWYG designer instead. It stops at the direction, with no code, no API and no packaging steps: new execution features will target the new framework and the legacy POD architecture will gradually phase out, while the designer, custom dialogs, dynamic PODs and notifications are left to the fifteen later posts the series list names.ManoelCosta, published 2026-02-10

Processes start from events, APIs, schedules or forms, the forms built in SAP Build Process Automation, as UI5 applications or in SAP Build Apps; they reach other systems through the SAP Connectivity service with actions over APIs from sources that include CAP and RAP OData destinations and SAP Business Accelerator Hub specifications, and users reach them through SAP Build Work Zone and SAP Mobile Start, with SAP Task Center as the place tasks are managed. Each pattern works the same way underneath — a BTP Workflow service task reads business-partner attributes over OData into the workflow context, and a user task, route or app variant reacts to it — built with key-user extensibility or SAP Business Application Studio rather than custom ABAP.steffen_ulmer, published 2026-06-01
How to Approve/Reject Task via API in SAP Build Process AutomationHow to Approve/Reject Task via API in SAP Build Process AutomationWalks through the Workflow API's /task-instances PATCH call that SAP Build Process Automation exposes to approve or reject a user task from outside its Inbox, matching the instance ID from the Monitoring tab and the identifier of the button the approval form defines. Covers the permission split between an authenticated user, who needs the ProcessAutomationAdmin or ProcessAutomationParticipant role collection to appear as the one who completed the task, and Client Credentials, which completes it as a generic client identity, plus the error codes the API returns for a missing instance, an already-completed task or an invalid status.Dan_Wroblewski, published 2025-02-10
SAP Build Process Automationで「グループ宛て承認ワークフロー」を構築するSAP Build Process Automationで「グループ宛て承認ワークフロー」を構築するWalks through building a group-addressed approval workflow in SAP Build Process Automation: a user group created in SAP Cloud Identity Services is bound to the app so an approval step can send one request to every group member's inbox at once, closing as soon as any one of them acts. The approval form shown in that inbox carries a Claim button that hides a claimed task from the other members, and the workflow's approval step binds its group recipients to the field the requester chose on the start form.takayuki_tanaka, published 2025-07-25
Trigger an SAP Build Process Automation Workflow from CAP Using the @cap-js/process PluginTrigger an SAP Build Process Automation Workflow from CAP Using the @cap-js/process PluginA step-by-step setup for starting a Build Process Automation workflow from CAP through the plugin rather than through direct REST calls, which is how it had to be done before. Covers both ends: deploying the process in the SBPA designer and finding the workflow instance id it produces, then wiring the CAP side to it. Written against the first beta, released 26 April 2026, so the shape is settled but the surface may not be.Jacky Liu, published 2026-07-02
Workflow development using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model and SAP Build Process AutomationWorkflow development using SAP Cloud Application Programming Model and SAP Build Process AutomationAn argument about where logic belongs rather than a wiring guide. The author's case is that pulling mapping, preprocessing and JavaScript into the process model makes it unreadable to the process owner who has to maintain it, so the model should stay thin and CAP should hold the domain model, the authorisation annotations, the events and the API consumption. Each of those is then shown in turn against SBPA — including publishing CAP events into process visibility.Venugopal, published 2025-02-18

Extending SAP Sales and Service Cloud V2 Using CAPExtending SAP Sales and Service Cloud V2 Using CAPAn extension target that does not run on BTP at all — Sales and Service Cloud V2 sits directly on hyperscalers — so the separation between core and extension is enforced rather than encouraged. That constraint is what makes the post worth reading.Quablab, published 2025-07-09
From Concept to action: Hands-On with the CAP Operator and the Partner Reference ApplicationFrom Concept to action: Hands-On with the CAP Operator and the Partner Reference ApplicationThe CAP Operator applied to a real application rather than a sample of its own — SAP's Partner Reference Application, taken from plugin integration through containerisation to custom resources. The transition to CRDs is the part that repays attention: it is where the deployment stops being an mta and becomes Kubernetes.ChristianWeiss, published 2026-05-21
