SAP Data Retention Manager
A BTP service that holds residence and retention rules for applications' personal and transactional data, and triggers blocking, deletion, archiving and destruction.
Personal data may be kept only as long as a legal ground for it lasts, and then it has to be blocked and destroyed together with the transactional data that refers to it. SAP Data Retention Manager holds those rules for applications built on SAP BTP, whatever data model they use: a business purpose rule for an application group names its legal grounds with a residence and a retention period for each, and the end of purpose is calculated from a reference date. When a data subject's retention period is complete, the service checks the end of purpose in each application and triggers the block or deletion request, and legal grounds or plain transactions are archived or destroyed in runs selected by application and range. Its Standard plan is removed from the list of Eligible Cloud Services as of 16 September 2026 and is not available for renewal terms that begin after that date.
