SAP Cloud Application Programming Model（CAP）：カスタムロジックの実装 – Part 2SAP Cloud Application Programming Model（CAP）：カスタムロジックの実装 – Part 2A walkthrough of implementing custom logic in a CAP Node.js service for the capire bookshop sample, registering before, on and after handlers around the generated CRUD service for its Books and Orders entities. The before handler validates an incoming order's amount and runs a transactional CQN UPDATE to decrement stock, raising a 400 or 409 through req.error when the amount is invalid or no rows match; an after handler on READ appends a discount note to overstocked books.rasai, published 2021-01-01
CAP: GraphQL as new protocolCAP: GraphQL as new protocolWritten days after @cap-js/graphql appeared, by somebody who went looking for it — an introduction to GraphQL alongside what the adapter actually does to a CAP service. SAP CAPv7 - Node.js Highlights and ExperiencesSAP CAPv7 - Node.js Highlights and ExperiencesAn account of upgrading a 100+ table CAP Node.js project from v6 to v7, working through breaking changes in @sap/cds 7: event handlers now always receive an array, service paths move under /odata/v4/... unless serve_on_root is set, and cds-serve replaces cds run. It goes deepest on the GraphQL plugin, @cap-js/graphql: the /graphql endpoint it serves, Composition results wrapped in a nodes connection, and offset-based pagination reached through OData's top and skip rather than GraphQL's own limit and offset.published 2023-08-03

SAP CAP Adapter to expose OData as custom REST ServiceSAP CAP Adapter to expose OData as custom REST ServiceWalks through consuming an external OData V2 service in a CAP project — cds import converts the Northwind service's EDMX into a CSN and cds.connect.to wires up the remote proxy — then re-exposing it as plain REST with the @protocol:'rest' annotation instead of OData's own envelope. Shows two ways to reshape the response, renaming and dropping fields in a CDS projection or rewriting the returned objects in a custom service handler, and remaps ?pageSize and ?offset onto OData's $top and $skip in that same handler.Former Member, published 2021-09-15

How to share tables across different CAP projectsHow to share tables across different CAP projectsFour scenarios for reading one CAP project's table from another, worked out as a matrix of what each one needs: the same HDI container and namespace, the same container under a different namespace, a different container, and a different Cloud Foundry space. The mechanics change with each step — @cds.persistence.exists on the reused entity throughout, an .hdbsynonym once namespaces diverge, .hdbrole and .hdbgrants once containers do, and a user-provided service built from the grantor's credentials once spaces do. The author flags the caveat themselves: these are learning scenarios, and consuming the OData service is often the better answer than reaching into another project's database. Dated corrections from twelve days after publication sit inline — synonyms need only the name because the configuration comes from .hdbsynonymconfig, SERVICE_REPLACEMENTS in mta.yaml removes the hard-coded service name, and the reused container need not be bound to the srv module.published 2021-10-03

Simple steps to deploy your CAP project to HANA cloudSimple steps to deploy your CAP project to HANA cloudWritten from the far side of a failed deploy — the author says these are the troubleshooting steps that ended up working, not a designed procedure.
Run and Deploy SAP CAP (Java) with PostgreSQL using Official Database Adapter @cap-js/postgresRun and Deploy SAP CAP (Java) with PostgreSQL using Official Database Adapter @cap-js/postgresThe post that records a handover. The author's earlier writing relied on the community projects cds-pg and cds-dbm; this one states that both were deprecated in favour of the official PostgreSQL support arriving with @sap/cds 7, and rewrites the path around @cap-js/postgres. For CAP Java it takes a different route to the initial schema.sql than the Node.js case, and it is candid that automatic schema deployment is convenient but not always what you want. Dated evidence for why two artifacts here went quiet.shanthakumar_krishnaswamy, published 2023-08-02

[Part – 2] Enrich CAP based Services with Behaviors using Annotations[Part – 2] Enrich CAP based Services with Behaviors using AnnotationsThe second half of a two-part walkthrough of CAP's behavioral annotations, following on from access control and input validation in the first part. This post works through @cds.autoexpose, @cds.api.ignore, @cds.persistence.exists/skip, @cds.on.insert/@cds.on.update and the @odata.Type/@odata.singleton mapping overrides, all shaping how a CDS model is projected into a service, which is data modelling. Alongside these it covers @cds.query.limit for default and maximum page sizes (pagination and streaming), @odata.etag with exclusive and shared locks for optimistic concurrency (concurrency control), and @cds.search for scoping $search to chosen elements (search), each with a CDS code example.published 2023-01-29
Improved Search Performance in SAP BTP Core, SAP Cloud Application Programming Model, Node.js RuntimeImproved Search Performance in SAP BTP Core, SAP Cloud Application Programming Model, Node.js RuntimeExplains CDS version 5's @cds.search annotation, which lets a service declare which elements a search query covers, and states that only String-typed elements are searched by default so the generated SQL stays simple. Covers two further changes to @sap/cds's Node.js runtime: metadata about which elements are searchable is now cached, and search over localized text can resolve at query time instead of through a compiled view, avoiding a coalesce function that blocks filter push-down on SAP HANA. Also describes an experimental toggle, cds.env.features.optimized_search, that lets the runtime choose the CONTAINS predicate over LIKE for large data sets.published 2021-08-18

It names four BTP services: SAP Personal Data Manager, SAP Data Retention Manager, SAP Data Privacy Integration and SAP Audit Log service. Only the first is described, as a service running in the Cloud Foundry environment that finds data subjects across one or more applications and services, makes requests on an individual's behalf about their personal information and forwards them for handling, and notifies individuals which of their personal information is being used or sends them a copy of their record by email; the CAP-side annotations and PDM's own application features follow in Part 2 and Part 3.Ajit_K_Panda, published 2023-03-18

Covers the xsuaa trust arrangement and service binding that let the standalone PDM application call back into the CAP service to read and manage that data. Second of a three-part series; the annotation model it demonstrates is CAP's own mechanism for data privacy compliance, exercised against a sample 'Game Shop' application.Ajit_K_Panda, published 2023-03-18
#SAPCAP: Win Customer Trust using Data Privacy and Protection Services on BTP - Part 3#SAPCAP: Win Customer Trust using Data Privacy and Protection Services on BTP - Part 3Third of a three-part series, this covers the UI side of SAP's Personal Data Manager (PDM) once it is subscribed and wired to a CAP application: a Customer Service Representative searches for a data subject, views the personal data the application's annotations expose, and requests correction, deletion or export on their behalf, while an Operators Clerk processes those requests through to completion. PDM stores none of the personal data itself, only the requests and access logs, which an administrator downloads through the separate Data Transport app. It builds on the annotation model the first two parts introduce, so what it demonstrates is PDM's own delivered UI rather than anything a CAP application must build itself.Ajit_K_Panda, published 2023-03-18
How to handle “usernames”, “Global User IDs” and “external IDs” in your landscape? How to handle “usernames”, “Global User IDs” and “external IDs” in your landscape?Explains what a username, a Global User ID and a SCIM2 external ID each are and when to use them: the username is the mutable attribute a person authenticates with, the Global User ID is the correlation attribute SAP uses when the same user must be identified between the applications they are provisioned into, and the external ID is mutable, defined by the client and optional within SCIM2. Argues against deriving any of the three from personal data, because they appear in read-only log files and other traces, some applications do not allow an ID change at all, and DevOps staff with access to those logs would otherwise see personal data they are not allowed to see. Recommends generating values without personal data, in uuid format, for technical integrations such as SAML or OIDC flows and SCIM-based replication, and keeping attributes like an email or display name for logon aliases and for what a user interface shows; notes that Cloud Identity Services already generates the SCIM ID and Global User ID in uuid format for each record.1Gunnar, published 2023-09-12
[Part - 1] Enrich CAP based Services with Behaviors using Annotations[Part - 1] Enrich CAP based Services with Behaviors using AnnotationsWalks through CDS annotations that add behaviour beyond CRUD: @readonly and @insertonly take away write, update or delete on an entity or element, each shown with the OData metadata it generates. @mandatory, @assert.unique, @assert.integrity, @assert.format and @assert.range then enforce input checks that @sap/cds runs on write, with the SQL or HANA constraint @assert.unique compiles to and the error code each rejection returns. It names @restrict and @requires but defers them, calling authorization too large a topic for this post.published 2023-01-28
#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N01-N02)#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N01-N02)Walks through two CAP gotchas: the on/before/after phases of custom event handlers, shown with an after handler whose edits only reach the result when the handler returns an object or array, never a primitive; and the @assert.unique annotation, which builds a database uniqueness constraint from the model. For Input validation, the catch is that once the constrained property is nested, @assert.unique must name it by its model dot path (assignment.type) rather than the flattened column data modelling compiles it to (assignment_type).published 2023-06-05

Edge Integration Cell : Design, deploy and manage APIsEdge Integration Cell : Design, deploy and manage APIsWalks through creating an API artifact in API Management on the customer-managed Edge Integration Cell runtime, including the option to generate the artifact by importing an OpenAPI specification rather than from a URL or by hand. It then attaches an Authentication policy and a Quota step capped at four calls per minute, deploys, and shows both the resulting 401 and the quota-breach error in the Monitor logs. The author frames it as the first of a series on Edge Integration Cell's policies.published 2023-11-15

从BTP Launchpad里的sapui5应用里调用部署的CPI IFLOW从BTP Launchpad里的sapui5应用里调用部署的CPI IFLOWA short follow-up to the author's earlier post on calling a deployed CPI iflow from a standalone-router SAPUI5 app, adjusted for the case where the app runs inside the BTP Launchpad: the fetch call is built from the launchpad component's own base URI, and the app's xs-app.json approuter route maps a /cpi/* path to a destination that fronts the CPI iflow runtime, with XSUAA authentication on the route. It also walks the MTA build and cf deploy commands used to push the app, scaffolded with generator-easy-ui5, to BTP.Jacky_Liu1, published 2023-06-13

Among the components it names are a feature toggle library giving Node.js CAP apps live-updatable toggles backed by Redis, a new pluggable database layer with SQLite and PostgreSQL implementations plus a generic SQL layer, and a change tracking component that builds a change history for data from CDS models.Fempel, published 2023-10-02
#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N05-N06)#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N05-N06)On SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry Runtime, a one-shot PostgreSQL db-deployer app can be restarted by the platform's default port-type health check inside its 60-second timeout, re-running the deploy and duplicating data in the PostgreSQL database; setting health-check-type to process or http, via cf commands or the app's mta.yaml parameters, avoids it. In CAP, a remote service's entities are imported and consumed through cds.connect.to and queried via a projection, but its functions and actions cannot be projected: they must be redefined in the consuming service's own interface, with the handler forwarding the call to the remote proxy.published 2023-07-27
SAP BTP Cloud foundry Job Scheduling for CAP based projectSAP BTP Cloud foundry Job Scheduling for CAP based projectWalks through binding the SAP Job Scheduling service's trial instance to a CAP application's own custom action endpoint, so the service calls it on a configured interval and keeps a log of each run. Migrating from Application Logging Service to Cloud LoggingMigrating from Application Logging Service to Cloud LoggingWalks through migrating from SAP Application Logging service for SAP BTP to SAP Cloud Logging on Cloud Foundry: sizing instances against the two services' quota and retention differences, running both bound in parallel for a week so no logs are lost, adjusting the Java and Node.js logging libraries' custom-field configuration so entries reach both, setting up SAML sign-on through IAS, and deprovisioning the old instance once Cloud Logging is confirmed to receive everything. Superseded by a newer version of this post; the quota math, custom-field steps and deprovisioning sequence here still hold.bill_keyes, published 2023-12-19
