@abaplint/transpiler

Transpiles ABAP 7.02 syntax to ES6 JavaScript, so ABAP code and its unit tests run on Node.js in CI without an ABAP system, with optional SQLite, PostgreSQL, Snowflake or SAP HANA drivers.

Running ABAP Unit tests normally needs an ABAP system; this turns the source into ES6 JavaScript that runs on Node.js, so the tests run in CI on every push. abapGit and abap2UI5 are among the projects its README lists as doing that. Input must be ABAP 7.02 syntax, and newer syntax is first rewritten by abaplint's downport rule; the standard ABAP classes the output calls come from the reuse library at open-abap.org, starting with open-abap-core. A database is optional, with drivers for SQLite, PostgreSQL, Snowflake and SAP HANA. Where it differs from a system, its README says so: Open SQL is not client aware, so a statement reaches every client, the encoding is UCS-2 and the time zone is UTC.

  • Open SQL is not client aware: no MANDT = SY-MANDT predicate is added, and INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE reach every client. A SELECT from a client-dependent table returns the rows of all clients, so data captured from a system with more than one client gives more rows than the same statement gives there. See #606; run a separate database per client if you need the isolation
  • Fixed point arithmetic is always enabled
