abapconf2026-custom-entities

The slides and abapGit sample objects of an abapconf 2026 talk on RAP custom entities whose data comes from a class implementing IF_RAP_QUERY_PROVIDER.

A custom entity declares its structure in CDS and hands all data retrieval to an ABAP class named in @ObjectModel.query.implementedBy. The sample objects show that step by step: a minimal provider returning fixed data, filters and ranges turned into a dynamic WHERE, paging and sorting from the request, parameters, a child entity whose query reads its parent's key through an association, and the difference between data and count requests. A product entity also gets unmanaged create, update and delete behaviour, and an OData service binding exposes it. The deck is a Slidev project in the same repository.

Custom CDS Views with Unmanaged Queries in ABAP RAP

Leveraging IF_RAP_QUERY_PROVIDER for full data control

abapconf 2026 · Session V9

This repository contains everything for the abapconf 2026 talk on building Custom CDS Views backed by unmanaged queries in ABAP RAP. It bundles two things:

  1. The presentation — a Slidev slide deck.
  2. The sample ABAP project — the demo code shown on stage, packaged as an abapGit repository under src/.
