Building your knowledge graph on SAP HANA Cloud
Devtoberfest 2026 session DAT-11, in which two enterprise architects explain what a knowledge graph is and then build one on SAP HANA CloudSAP HANA CloudThe managed database under most of this: CAP's default target, the store Datasphere and Analytics Cloud sit on, and a service with plans and components.sap official, btp. The first half sets the join across three relational tables against an ontology of classes and predicates, the subject-predicate-object triple written as a turtle file, and a SPARQL query over it, and argues that the chain of relationships is what makes a recommendation traceable back to its reasons. The demo, taken from a Discovery Center mission, curates the ontology and the RDF files for an accounts receivable scenario in VS Code, ingests the triples into HANA Cloud with SQL and walks the resulting graph outward from a customer; that is the graph, spatial and document dataGraph, spatial and document dataStoring and querying data that is not plain rows, such as a network of relationships, a geometry or a JSON document, in the database that already holds the rows instead of in a separate store per model. Free-text search over entities is search; similarity over embeddings is retrieval-augmented generation.SAP only edge. It closes by separating three things that share the name: the HANA Cloud knowledge graph engine, SAP Knowledge Graph as the data, and the knowledge graph in SAP Business Data CloudSAP Business Data CloudSAP's umbrella over the data estate: installed intelligent content and data products, a governed catalog they are published through, and a path out to SAP Databricks.sap official, btp.
