SAP GraphQL in CAPm (node.js)SAP GraphQL in CAPm (node.js)Adding the GraphQL protocol adapter to a CAP project when it was new — an entity, some data, the feature switched on, and a check that it answers. Short, and it is the earliest account here of CAP speaking something other than OData.enric101, published 2021-11-29
#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N03-N04)#BTP #SAPCAP: Quirky Nuggets (N03-N04)Two unrelated findings in one post, which is the format of the series: the OData operators tried against a CAP service — with a schema of deliberately awkward types to try them on — and undeploying database artifacts, which is the half people hit in anger. Numbered N03 and N04 of a run that continues either side.Ajit_K_Panda, published 2023-06-05

Empowering Your Data Analytics with GPT-3 and SAP CAP IntegrationEmpowering Your Data Analytics with GPT-3 and SAP CAP IntegrationFree text in, SQL out, answer back in a sentence — the model writes the query, CAP runs it, and the model turns the rows into prose. Written in the GPT-3 window, so the model access has dated, but the three-step shape has not, and it is a different bet from retrieval: nothing is embedded, the schema is the context.Former Member, published 2023-03-10

The XSUAA section is a complaint about complexity rather than a guide, which is also worth having on the record.dr_vup, published 2021-12-30

The premise is the interesting part: CAP's annotation syntax is looser than ABAP CDS or EDMX — a record can be written with or without an explicit type — so the completion has to guess how verbose you want it, and this is where you tell it. Then filtering the completion list, reading the icons, ordering diagnostics by severity, and turning i18n problems on only when you want them.maryana_naboka, published 2021-10-25

The second half is structure — a formatter class and a singleton LayoutManager called from the XML view through core:require, a confirmation helper taking a callback, a dialog class resolving a promise, a generic createEntity<T> on a service class — all of it to keep every controller under 100 lines. Create an SAP Fiori Elements UI for CAP Node.js applications in SAP Business Application StudioCreate an SAP Fiori Elements UI for CAP Node.js applications in SAP Business Application StudioWritten the week Fiori elements gained OData V4 support, which is what made a generated List Report over a CAP Node.js service possible at all. Short, and dated in the useful sense — it marks when the generator stopped being a V2-only path.liat_b, published 2021-01-11

Developing SAP Fiori Element application by using SAP Cloud Application Programming ModelDeveloping SAP Fiori Element application by using SAP Cloud Application Programming ModelThe long version, and it starts by naming the floorplans — List Report, Worklist, Object Page, Overview Page, Analytical List Page — which is the decision most walkthroughs skip. Then one of them, built out against a CAP service.shobhit, published 2023-08-07

Fiori Elements Analytical Table with CAP: Does it work with V2 and V4?Fiori Elements Analytical Table with CAP: Does it work with V2 and V4?A question in the title and an answer in the post, with the boundary drawn carefully: this is an analytical table inside a List Report, not the Analytical List Page, and the two protocol versions do not behave the same.published 2023-04-03

Fiori Elements Standard App Extension using virtual Elements: Manage Billing Document ( Real Time Extension Scenario)Fiori Elements Standard App Extension using virtual Elements: Manage Billing Document ( Real Time Extension Scenario)Extending a delivered standard application — Manage Billing Documents — rather than building a new one, using virtual elements to add what the standard model does not carry. A different problem from most of this capability, and a common one.mohit_bansal3, published 2021-08-24
From R/3 ABAP to CAP/Fiori Elements on SAP CloudFrom R/3 ABAP to CAP/Fiori Elements on SAP CloudWritten by an ABAP developer of fourteen years explaining what changed and what did not — the argument being that CAP kept the focus on business logic that ABAP had, where learning UI5 and a framework or two had not. The reasoning half of a pair.former_member231477, published 2021-03-24

Tips and Tricks for Working with Annotations in CAP Projects using Language Server Protocol (LSP) capabilitiesTips and Tricks for Working with Annotations in CAP Projects using Language Server Protocol (LSP) capabilitiesFour settings, from somebody who works on the annotation language server.

Enable App-to-App Navigation in BASEnable App-to-App Navigation in BASTesting navigation between two Fiori applications inside Business Application Studio, which Web IDE Full-Stack made easy and BAS initially did not. Two paths: between Fiori elements applications it is a few clicks in Fiori tools with both apps in the same workspace, and for a freestyle application the same result takes a short sequence of manual steps. Written in 2021 against the Fiori tools of the time, so read the mechanism rather than the clicks.published 2021-05-24
Testing SAP Build Process Automation task UI in SAP Business Application StudioTesting SAP Build Process Automation task UI in SAP Business Application StudioA task UI built from the Workflow Task UI template cannot be run in Business Application Studio: it expects the task model and the inbox API as startup parameters, and without them it fails before the view renders. The post shows the error, explains why it happens, and supplies a wrapper that provides the missing context locally, so the alternative to deploying on every change is not deploying on every change.published 2023-10-15
A modern workflow for SAP Cloud Integration with CAP and Azure DevOpsA modern workflow for SAP Cloud Integration with CAP and Azure DevOpsCAP used to build tooling rather than an application: the development workflow for Cloud Integration is limited to what the Integration Suite offers, so the author puts a CAP service and Azure DevOps around it. An unusual use of the framework, and the reason to read it.marcel_schork62, published 2023-06-27

Consuming SAP Build API's made easy with SAP Cloud SDK in your CAP applicationConsuming SAP Build API's made easy with SAP Cloud SDK in your CAP applicationReaching into SBPA from CAP the other way round — reading its tasks and workflows rather than starting them. The author starts from the plain Axios version and says what it costs: the connection and the authentication are the work, not the call. Cloud SDK is used to generate a typed client from the OpenAPI document and then to resolve the connection through either a service binding or a destination, shown for client credentials and for user token exchange.maheshpalavalli, published 2023-02-08

SAP Build Process Automation – Use Principal Propagation in Actions sample: CAP Node.js ServiceSAP Build Process Automation – Use Principal Propagation in Actions sample: CAP Node.js ServiceThe follow-up that carries the identity through. It takes the CAP service from the Actions tutorial and puts the calling user's identity behind it — an XSUAA instance, a trust configuration, an OAuthSAMLBearerAssertion destination, and the service changed to use that instance — so a step runs on behalf of a person rather than as the process.TJe, published 2023-06-22
