SAP Datasphere

SAP's cloud data warehouse: spaces, modelled views and analytic models over data brought in or federated from source systems, with the business context carried along rather than rebuilt.

The product the rest of this corner points at. Three things live in it and the atlas names them separately: the Data Builder, where tables, views and intelligent lookups combine and prepare data and an analytic model becomes the basis for consumption in Analytics Cloud; the integration side, where a space administrator or integrator connects source systems and schedules and monitors replication; and the catalog. SAP's own framing is a business data fabric — harmonising data across the organisation without duplicating or physically moving it where federation will do. Subscribed rather than installed, and released continuously: the documentation names version 2026.19 as current.

Analytic modellingBTPAnalytic modellingcapabilityDefining what an analytical client actually reads — the multi-dimensional layer between stored rows and a chart: measures, dimensions, hierarchies, filters and parameters, and the associations somebody navigates them by. Distinct from [analytical queries](capability:analytical-queries), which is a service answering the request a chart sends, and from [loading a warehouse](capability:warehouse-loading), which fills the tables underneath it.Loading a warehouseBTPLoading a warehousecapabilityGetting data into an analytical store and keeping it current — connections to source systems, replication and the other integration tasks, import jobs and their lifecycle, and the monitoring that tells you a load failed before a report does. Distinct from [replication](capability:replication), which is an application reading data that lives elsewhere as if it were local rather than a warehouse being filled.Cataloguing and lineageBTPCataloguing and lineagecapabilityFinding what data exists across the estate and what it promises — catalogs and data products, the contract a consumer can rely on, where a field came from, and what a column actually contains once you profile it. The question asked before modelling starts and again when somebody asks where a number came from.

Before choosing this

Conditions

PracticalFunctional boundary

A tenant with spaces and a role model, not a database you point an application at — privileges are granted per space, and what somebody can model depends on the scoped role they hold. Federation is the default answer to moving data, and where it is not, a load has to be scheduled and watched.

History in the atlas4
  1. SAP moved the What's New entries for SAP Business Data Cloud, SAP Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud to the Business Data Cloud feed; the old BTP feed had stopped carrying them.
  2. Entered so the data and analytics capabilities have SAP's answer as an artifact rather than as a paragraph with a citation — the asymmetry every one of those three coverage notes admitted to. Written from SAP Help, read today, which is what the checked date means.
  3. Added by me the day it was entered, and it did not hold: the data and analytics capabilities are on the BTP door only, so on CAP this was counted behind the door and grouped under nothing. A CAP service reaches it through a destination, which is the BTP door's concern.
  4. First seen.
