The ADT backend the separate ABAP Search and Analysis Tools Eclipse plugin needs, installed in the ABAP system.

The ABAP Search and Analysis Tools Eclipse plugin needs a counterpart running inside the system to serve its data over ADT; this repository is that backend, and the plugin itself is not in it — its source sits in the maintainer's eclipse-adt-plugins mono repo. It installs with abapGit, one branch per release: the main branch for NW 7.55 and higher, older branches down to NW 7.40, nothing officially supported below that. Reaching it from ADT needs the authorization object S_ADT_RES scoped to the URI prefix /devepos/adt/saat/*. From NW 7.55 the new CDS view entities come without an accompanying DDIC view, so metadata that ABAP object search and the CDS analyzer's where-used and field analysis need is missing for them; the README says a daily job should be configured for the ABAP program ZSAT_CDS_V2_META_INDEX_UPDATE, which writes that metadata into its own tables and removes the indexes of deleted views.

Install this repository using abapGit.

Additional Configuration

Configure Job for updating the Metadata Index of CDS Views v2 (aka View Entities)

Note: Only relevant for NW 7.55 and higher

With NW 7.55 a new version of CDS Views were introduced which do not have an accompanying DDIC View.
Therefore some Metadata information that is necessary for the following features:

  • ABAP Object Search; CDS View:
    • Parameter from
    • Parameter field
  • CDS Analyzer
    • Where-Used Analysis
    • Field Analysis

is missing for these new CDS Views.

To enable the aforementioned features for the new CDS Views as well, a daily job should be configured for the ABAP program ZSAT_CDS_V2_META_INDEX_UPDATE. This program will create the missing Metadata information in the tables:

  • ZSATCDS2MHEAD
  • ZSATCDS2MTAB
  • ZSATCDS2MFIELD

The program will also remove any invalid indexes of deleted CDS Views.
In addition to this program the ADT plugin ABAP Search and Analysis Tools will also trigger an update of the index during the activation of one or more CDS Views.
