mcp-sap-cpi

The runtime half of Cloud Integration: failed messages with their full processing logs and traces, artifact deployment, security material, and a health summary.

Written for the morning after. Message monitoring lists failed messages, retrieves full MPL details and pulls trace logs; integration content browses packages and artifacts and deploys or undeploys an iFlow; the security section lists credentials, keystores and OAuth2 configurations; and a runtime section reports deployed artifact status and a system health summary. Diagnosing a failure and redeploying the fix are in one place.

Agent access to your systemsBTPAgent access to your systemscapabilityGiving an AI agent access to the business data, configuration or operations of systems you run through an MCP server. [Serving your application over MCP](capability:mcp-servers) exposes your own service contract; system access reaches the systems behind it, and one implementation may do both. Development assistance belongs to [agent access to your code](capability:agent-code-access).

PracticalFunctional boundary

It deploys and undeploys, and it enumerates credentials, keystores and OAuth2 configurations. Listing security material is a read, and it is still a read of the thing that protects everything else the tenant talks to.

PolicySAP API Policy 4.2026a§ 1.1, 1.2, 2.2.2from Agent access to your systemsAn MCP server uses SAP APIs to supply tools, resources or data to an agent.
  • § 1.1 Published APIs. Published APIs are made available for the documented purposes identified by SAP, including integration, extensions and data exchange.
  • § 1.2 Non-Published APIs. Customer and third-party applications must not access non-published APIs except where documentation permits it or SAP otherwise authorizes it.
  • § 2.2.2 AI call sequences and data extraction. Outside SAP-endorsed architectures, data services or expressly identified pathways, the policy prohibits specified agentic API use and systematic or large-scale extraction.

MCP does not replace the API's documented-use boundary. Check that every endpoint is published for the intended use and whether the policy's AI-call or extraction provisions apply to the design.

mcp-sap-cpi

An open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that connects Claude to SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI). Ask Claude to diagnose failed messages, review iFlows, deploy artifacts, check credentials, and more — directly from your conversation.

What it does

CategoryTools
Message MonitoringList failed messages, get full MPL details, retrieve trace logs
Integration ContentBrowse packages, list artifacts, deploy/undeploy iFlows
Security ArtifactsList credentials, keystores, OAuth2 configurations
Runtime StatusCheck deployed artifact status, system health summary

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+
  • SAP CPI tenant (Integration Suite or standalone CPI)
  • BTP service key with Process Integration Runtime role (it-rt plan)

Installation

npm install -g mcp-sap-cpi

Or run without installing:

npx mcp-sap-cpi

Configuration

1. Get your BTP service key

In SAP BTP Cockpit:

  1. Go to your subaccount → Services → Instances and Subscriptions
  2. Create a service instance: Process Integration Runtime → plan it-rt
  3. Create a service key → copy the JSON

From the service key JSON, extract:

  • url → CPI_TENANT_URL
  • tokenurl → CPI_TOKEN_URL
  • clientid → CPI_CLIENT_ID
  • clientsecret → CPI_CLIENT_SECRET
2. Set environment variables

Create a .env file (or set in your Claude Desktop config — see below):

CPI_TENANT_URL=https://<tenant>.it-cpi.cfapps.<region>.hana.ondemand.com
CPI_TOKEN_URL=https://<subdomain>.authentication.<region>.hana.ondemand.com/oauth/token
CPI_CLIENT_ID=sb-<your-client-id>
CPI_CLIENT_SECRET=<your-client-secret>
3. Register with Claude Desktop

Add to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (Windows):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sap-cpi": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["mcp-sap-cpi"],
      "env": {
        "CPI_TENANT_URL": "https://<tenant>.it-cpi.cfapps.<region>.hana.ondemand.com",
        "CPI_TOKEN_URL": "https://<subdomain>.authentication.<region>.hana.ondemand.com/oauth/token",
        "CPI_CLIENT_ID": "your-client-id",
        "CPI_CLIENT_SECRET": "your-client-secret"
      }
    }
  }
}
4. Register with Claude Code
claude mcp add sap-cpi npx mcp-sap-cpi \
  -e CPI_TENANT_URL=https://<tenant>.it-cpi.cfapps.<region>.hana.ondemand.com \
  -e CPI_TOKEN_URL=https://<subdomain>.authentication.<region>.hana.ondemand.com/oauth/token \
  -e CPI_CLIENT_ID=your-client-id \
  -e CPI_CLIENT_SECRET=your-client-secret

History in the atlas3
  1. The concern it answers is reaching into an SAP system from outside, split out of MCP servers on this day; the sentence on the edge is unchanged.
  2. Triaged out of data/crawled/mcp-candidates.json, the sap-ai-mcp-servers sweep. Written from the repository's own README. Filed on the BTP door: the Integration Suite is BTP services, which is the reasoning the door list has carried since it was written.
