sap-mdk-apps

An agent skill for Mobile Development Kit projects: the project layout, the metadata syntax, and the rules that prevent the failures those two produce on iOS, Android and the web.

States five principles and answers against them: JSON files describe pages, actions and services while JavaScript rules carry what metadata cannot express; a client interprets that metadata, so a change reaches devices as a new revision from SAP Mobile Services instead of a new store release; one project's metadata runs on iOS, Android and the web; services on mobile use an offline store unless configured otherwise; and the schema ships with the editor extension while the renderer ships with the client, with nothing checking one against the other. It then says what differs per runtime: the iOS and Android clients come through SAP Mobile Services with the offline store and clientAPI.nativescript, while the web runtime is delivered through Cloud Foundry, is always online, ignores offline settings and has no nativescript, BottomNavigation or SideDrawer. It is triggered by file names and API calls, among them .page, .action, .service, .global, Application.app, {Property} bindings, $(L,...) formatters, #Page: target paths, getControl, redraw and setValue, so it also fires on a symptom, such as a page that validates but renders nothing or a value that does not repaint. It carries guidance and no code of its own: building, deploying and reading Mobile Services metadata are @sap/mdk-tools and @sap/mdk-mcp-server, which SAP publishes.

Distinct from agent tooling, which is about building agentic features into your application, and from [agent access to your code](capability:agent-code-access), where the agent reads the real project instead of being handed a file about it.

SAP Mobile Development Kit Apps Skill

Guidance for AI coding agents working on SAP Mobile Development Kit (MDK) apps: the structure of a project, the metadata syntax, and the rules that prevent common failures on iOS, Android and the web.

Installation

Install it with the skills CLI:

npx skills@1.7.0 add logalitech/sap-mdk-skills --skill sap-mdk-apps

Usage

Start a conversation about an MDK project and the skill triggers on keywords such as:

  • "MDK", "Mobile Development Kit", "SAP Mobile Services"
  • .page, .action, .service, Application.app
  • "offline store", "defining request", "upload category"
  • "getControl", "redraw", "setValue"

Example prompts that trigger the skill:

  • "Add a list page for customers to my MDK app"
  • "Why does getControl return undefined on this page?"
  • "How do I send one order without uploading the others?"
  • "Why does my Styles.less break the bundle?"
