Effective Axios Error Logging for Robust SAP IntegrationsEffective Axios Error Logging for Robust SAP IntegrationsTwo logged failures printed side by side, and the point is made by looking at them: one tells you what went wrong and one does not. Axios buries the useful part of an HTTP error, and this is what to unwrap before logging it from a CAP service.Sahil2508, published 2025-08-31

The Complete Guide to Calling Actions in UI5 with Custom CodeThe Complete Guide to Calling Actions in UI5 with Custom CodeWritten because the documentation is thin and the samples sparse, and openly as a note to the author's future self — hand-coding an action call has become a rare task for anyone mostly working in Fiori elements, which is exactly why it is hard to look up when it comes round. Federated Machine Learning with SAP DatasphereFederated Machine Learning with SAP DatasphereSAP's design for training predictive models on an external machine learning platform against SAP Datasphere data that is not replicated to that platform. The open-source FedML Python library runs in the platform's notebook, connects to Datasphere over Python/SQLDBC and reads the analytic models in which Datasphere unifies SAP and non-SAP sources; a trained model can then be deployed to SAP AI Core, or in several sub-pages to SAP BTP, Kyma runtime, which is the predictive models path where training happens outside SAP. Sub-pages cover Amazon SageMaker, Azure Machine Learning, Google Vertex AI, Databricks, NVIDIA RAPIDS on GPUs and IBM watsonx.published 2025-01-23

Building an Attachment Upload and Download Solution Using UploadSetwithTable ControlBuilding an Attachment Upload and Download Solution Using UploadSetwithTable ControlThe successor control to UploadSet posts the file in one request by default, and against CAP that is wrong: the record has to be created first and the content put to it afterwards. The author states the two-step shape plainly and notes it may not apply to an ABAP backend, which is the kind of boundary that usually goes unsaid. Boosting performance in SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) applications with cds-cachingBoosting performance in SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP) applications with cds-cachingThe plugin's introduction post: what cds-caching is for, how it is put together and the cases it was written against. The edge holds because the plugin's README still points here as the piece to read first, so this is where a reader arriving at the plugin is sent. It predates version 1.0 and the API has moved since: the read-through calls it shows as cache.run() and cache.send() are the ones the README now lists as deprecated in favour of cache.rt.*, which returns the cache key and hit/miss metadata alongside the result, and 1.0 made user, tenant and locale awareness opt-in under keyManagement rather than folding them into request-based keys by default. Metrics and monitoring, the OData API and full TypeScript definitions arrived with 1.0 and are described in CAP just got faster: What's new in cds-caching 1.0 instead. The reasoning about when a CAP service wants a cache still reads true; the call sites need translating.published 2025-06-25

CAP just got faster: What's new in cds-caching 1.0CAP just got faster: What's new in cds-caching 1.0What changed in cds-caching at 1.0, announced at reCAP 2025 by the plugin's own maintainer. The substantive change is the read-through API: cache.rt.run(), send(), exec() and wrap() replace the bare cache.run() and cache.send(), and each returns the cache key and hit-or-miss metadata beside the result rather than the value alone. The second is quieter and easier to miss on an upgrade: user, tenant and locale stopped being folded into request-based cache keys by default and became opt-in through keyManagement, or per operation through a key template. Both of those still describe 3.x. What does not is the second half of the post: the metrics configuration it shows was reshaped at 2.0 and the statistics and dashboard settings were removed at 3.0, so take the monitoring and dashboard sections from the README instead. Read it as the successor to the introduction post, which still shows the deprecated calls.published 2025-07-15

Designing Event-Driven ApplicationsDesigning Event-Driven ApplicationsSAP's guidance for building applications on event-driven architecture with BTP services. It sets out a two-part strategy: SAP Cloud Application Event Hub for events between SAP cloud applications and BTP, and the SAP Integration Suite family for dedicated event brokers in hybrid landscapes. Its sub-pages then cover EDA patterns, design considerations and AWS and Azure IoT integration. The framing is integration between systems; the in-process outbox and queueing inside one CAP service are not its subject.published 2025-10-10

Messages that land in a Dead Message Queue are deleted for good when their TTL expires, so this pulls them out first and holds them in quarantine, where a Fiori elements UI lets someone inspect a payload, correct it and reinject it. Event Driven SAP CAP on Kyma with Agentic AI and UI Auto RefreshEvent Driven SAP CAP on Kyma with Agentic AI and UI Auto RefreshA prototype, described as one: a plain CAP application made to react to external events on Kyma, with an agent in the loop and the UI refreshing itself rather than being reloaded. Short — it reports what was built and why, not how to rebuild it.Shahid, published 2025-12-01
Exploring Application Frontend Service: Deploying the UI of an MTA AppExploring Application Frontend Service: Deploying the UI of an MTA AppApplication Frontend Service, which arrived in May 2026 and overlaps the HTML5 Application Repository without replacing it. The post is careful about the difference — single-tenant, stand-alone, and no Work Zone integration yet — which is what you need to decide between them.MioYasutake, published 2025-07-12
Extend SAP SuccessFactors on SAP BTP with CAP - Deploy to SAP HANA CloudExtend SAP SuccessFactors on SAP BTP with CAP - Deploy to SAP HANA CloudThe deployment instalment of the author's SuccessFactors extension series — the project already exists and the imported service is already modelled, so this is only the move onto HANA Cloud. Depends on the two posts before it and says so.ale_biagi, published 2022-03-29
Quickly Deploy a Sample CAP Application to BTPQuickly Deploy a Sample CAP Application to BTPPrerequisites first and at length — account, dev environment, CLI tools, MBT — because that is where a first deployment actually fails. SAP CAP - Optimize your build MTA projects with several ui appsSAP CAP - Optimize your build MTA projects with several ui appsWhat the Business Application Studio wizard writes into mta.yaml stops scaling somewhere past a couple of dozen UI applications, because every one of them gets its own build step. The post is about the build phase specifically, and reads as a report from a project large enough to have hit the wall rather than as a general optimisation.published 2022-04-28

The fastest way to a deployable CAP app on SAP BTP Cloud FoundryThe fastest way to a deployable CAP app on SAP BTP Cloud FoundryThe gap between an application that runs locally and one that runs deployed — binding, bundling, the database connection, authorization — treated as the problem rather than as setup. Since updated for cds up, which is the shortest answer the core now offers, and the post carries that update inline rather than leaving the original standing.published 2025-02-13

Implementing Custom Audit Logging in SAP CAP ApplicationsImplementing Custom Audit Logging in SAP CAP ApplicationsWhere the annotations stop. CAP logs personal-data operations automatically once a model is annotated; this is about the events that are not that — an unauthorised access attempt, a business action somebody wants a trail for — and what writing those yourself involves.gopalanand, published 2025-10-09

Developing CAP java/node.js mixed mono Multitenant SaaS Applications with Shared DatabaseDeveloping CAP java/node.js mixed mono Multitenant SaaS Applications with Shared DatabaseTwo CAP projects, one Java and one Node.js, in one npm workspace sharing a single tenant database. The interesting part is which sidecar wins: both sub-projects get an MTX sidecar, both have cds.xt.SaasProvisioningService switched off, and a third onboarding project keeps provisioning to itself. Configuration listings rather than prose, and it assumes you already know why you would want this.xuelong, published 2025-01-08

Multitenant SaaS applications on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True!Multitenant SaaS applications on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True!The opening post of the Cloud Foundry series, and the one that states the shape of the whole thing: a sample built out of a partner co-innovation project with BCG, then delivered in three graded versions — Basic, Advanced, Expert Features — against a fictional partner's requirements. Multitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Advanced VersionMultitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Advanced VersionWhat the basic version leaves out and production needs: central user management, and reaching an on-premise S/4HANA from a subscribed tenant. Framed as a step towards production readiness rather than as production itself, which is the honest reading — the Expert Features post is where the rest of that distance is covered.published 2022-11-21
Multitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Basic VersionMultitenant SaaS apps on SAP BTP using CAP? Tried-and-True! – The Basic VersionThe version deliberately bounded by what a trial or pay-as-you-go account can hold — the authors point out a PAYG owner can run it for nothing on free-tier services. Part 2: Architecting SaaS Resilience Against S/4HANA VariancePart 2: Architecting SaaS Resilience Against S/4HANA VarianceThe unspoken problem it names is a good one: a multitenant SaaS application faces not one S/4HANA but every customer's, each at a different release with different extensions. Testing your CAP HANA Artifacts with jest – including multitenancy, hdbprocedure and hdbviewTesting your CAP HANA Artifacts with jest – including multitenancy, hdbprocedure and hdbviewcds.test covers the service; this covers what is underneath it, where the artifact is an hdbprocedure or an hdbview that CDS never sees. That means a real HDI container, so most of the post is about where to get one and how to give CAP access to it — the tests are the easy part once that is true.Tristan, published 2022-08-30

Add useful Extensions to Dev spaces in SAP Business Application StudioAdd useful Extensions to Dev spaces in SAP Business Application StudioStarts from the point capire makes — that CAP is editor-agnostic and BAS is the preconfigured option — and then does the thing that undoes preconfiguration: adds two extensions to a dev space for initialising data in a CAP application, with the uninstall procedure as well as the install. The uninstall half is what makes it worth keeping.showkath_naseem, published 2022-11-13
