Cloud ALM Link for ADT

An Eclipse plugin that shows the transports and SAP Cloud ALM features behind an ABAP object, and turns Cloud ALM IDs in source comments into links.

Brings the SAP Cloud ALM side of a change into ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse: right-click an ABAP object in the source editor or the Project Explorer, or press Ctrl+6, and a Cloud ALM Transports view lists the transports associated with it, each with the Cloud ALM feature it belongs to, its status and the person responsible for it. The same two steps work the other way, so a transport request in the Transport Organizer opens its transport in Cloud ALM, and a row in the view opens the transport in ADT's Transport Editor. Cloud ALM IDs written into ABAP comments become clickable, recognised by prefix: 6- for features, 3- for tasks and requirements, 7- for documents, 15- for libraries. The connection is configured in each Eclipse installation under ABAP > ADT Cloud ALM Link, with the tenant, the region, a client ID and a client secret, and the Cloud ALM API enabled for the calm-api.features.read scope; a demo mode shows sample data with no Cloud ALM connection. It installs from the maintainer's own p2 update site, and the same maintainer publishes calmcp in front of the Cloud ALM APIs for agents.

Conditions

PracticalFunctional boundary

An Eclipse installation older than the 2026-03 release, or a Java below 21, cannot take it: both are listed prerequisites, and 2026-03 is named as the oldest release the current ADT installs on. The tenant, region, client ID and client secret are entered per installation in Eclipse preferences, so each developer configures the Cloud ALM connection in their own IDE.

README

Cloud ALM Link integrates SAP Cloud ALM with ABAP Development Tools (ADT) in Eclipse, allowing you to navigate seamlessly between your ABAP development environment and Cloud ALM.

Detailed information can be found at https://cloudalmlink.consetto.com/

Prerequisites

Installation

The plugin can be installed directly into your Eclipse IDE using the standard "Install New Software" feature.

  1. Open Eclipse and navigate to Help > Install New Software...
  2. In the "Work with" field, add the following update site URL:
    https://cloudalmlink.consetto.com/latest

  3. Select Cloud ALM Link from the list of available software.
  4. Click Next, accept the license agreement, and click Finish.
  5. Restart Eclipse when prompted.

Configuration

Before using the plugin, you need to configure your Cloud ALM tenant settings:

  1. Go to Window > Preferences (or Eclipse > Preferences on macOS)
  2. Navigate to ABAP > ADT Cloud ALM Link
  3. Enter your Cloud ALM settings:
    • Tenant: Your Cloud ALM tenant name (e.g., mycompany)
    • Region: Your Cloud ALM region (e.g., eu10)
    • Client ID: Your Client ID
    • Client Secret: Your Client Secret
    • Enable Demo Mode: Try the plugin with sample data, no Cloud ALM connection required

Features

Show Transports and Features

View the transports and Cloud ALM features associated with an ABAP object:

  • Right-click in the ABAP source editor and select Show Transports and Features
  • Right-click on an ABAP object in the Project Explorer and select Show Transports and Features
  • Or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+6 (Cmd+6 on macOS)

Results are displayed in the Cloud ALM Transports view, showing transport ID, title, feature, status, responsible person, and more. Use the search field to filter across all columns in real-time.

Open Feature from Transport Organizer

Right-click on a transport request in the Transport Organizer or Transport Editor and select Open in Cloud ALM to open the corresponding transport in Cloud ALM.

Open in Transport Organizer

From the Cloud ALM Transports view, right-click any row and select Open in Transport Organizer to open the transport directly in ADT's Transport Editor.

The plugin automatically detects Cloud ALM IDs in your ABAP source code comments and makes them clickable:

  • Features: IDs starting with 6- (e.g., 6-1234)
  • Tasks/Requirements: IDs starting with 3- (e.g., 3-144444)
  • Documents: IDs starting with 7- (e.g., 7-5678)
  • Libraries: IDs starting with 15- (e.g., 15-9012)

To use this feature:

  1. Add a Cloud ALM ID in a comment, for example:
    * Implementation for feature 6-1234
    " Fix for task 3-144444
  2. Hold Ctrl (Cmd on macOS) and hover over the ID
  3. Click Open in Cloud ALM to open the feature or task in your browser

Building

The plugin, feature and p2 update site are built with Maven and Tycho (JDK 21, Maven 3.9.9+):

mvn verify # against the oldest supported Eclipse (pom.xml: eclipse.release)
mvn verify -Declipse.release=latest # against the newest Eclipse release

Releases: set the version, merge the PR, then push a tag vX.Y.Z matching Bundle-Version. The release workflow builds the update site and attaches cloudalmlink-updatesite-X.Y.Z.zip to a draft GitHub release.

The update site lands in com.consetto.adt.cloudalmlink.site/target/repository (and as a .zip next to it). CI runs both builds on every pull request and weekly, because SAP only publishes the newest ADT. See TESTING.md for the unit tests and what needs a manual check in Eclipse.
