abapwulu

Rebuilds the where-used index for the ABAP repository objects in one package, optionally with its subpackages, as the report ZSAPDEV_WULU_RUN or as an ADT console class, for sandbox systems.

The where-used list answers where a name occurs in a system, and it answers from an index a sandbox system has often never built. This rebuilds that index for the content of one package: the report ZSAPDEV_WULU_RUN takes a technical package name and a recursive checkbox that pulls in the subpackages, and the class ZCL_SAPDEV_WULU_RUN does the same from ABAP Development Tools for Eclipse as an ABAP console application, with the package name and the recursive flag maintained as constants before it runs. It rebuilds the index and leaves the lookup alone: finding the usages is still the system's own where-used list, and the alternative the maintainer names is a full system index run. The README puts it at sandbox systems and local Docker ABAP Trial instances, and says recursive processing over a large package is worth scheduling as a background job through the report.

Where-Used-List Updater / Throw the Trident

Purpose

This tool updates the where-used list for ABAP repository objects in a package.

It can process:

  • single package
  • package including all subpackages recursively

Use it when where-used information is missing, outdated and you do not want to run full system index. Handy for sandbox systems, local Docker ABAP Trial instances.

Usage

Option 1 - Report: ZSAPDEV_WULU_RUN

Use this if you want to run the update from a classic executable report.

Option 2 - ADT Class Runner: ZCL_SAPDEV_WULU_RUN

Use this if you want to run the update directly from ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse.

Report Usage

Execute report ZSAPDEV_WULU_RUN.

Input Fields
  • Package: technical package name to process
  • Recursive: checkbox to include subpackages recursively
Execution Modes
  • Recursive not selected Only the entered package is processed.
  • Recursive selected The entered package and all subpackages are processed recursively.
Result
  • Success message is shown.
Notes
  • Recursive processing may take longer, depending on package size. Schedule a background job using the report.

ADT Class Runner Usage

Run class ZCL_SAPDEV_WULU_RUN in Eclipse / ADT as ABAP Console Application. (Windows Keyboard Shortcut: F9)

The runner uses constants inside the class:

  • package name
  • recursive mode flag

Before running, maintain these values in the source code.

Example
CONSTANTS package_name TYPE devclass VALUE 'SALV_DYNPRO'.
    CONSTANTS recursive_processing TYPE abap_bool VALUE abap_false.

This processes one package only.

If you set:

  • recursive_processing = abap_true

the runner processes the package recursively.

Result
  • A success message is written

When to Use Which Option

Use the report when:
  • you want to enter the package at runtime
  • you want a simple executable tool
  • you prefer a classic SAP GUI style entry point
  • background processing is required
Use the ADT class runner when:
  • you work mainly in Eclipse / ADT
  • you want quick online developer execution
  • hard-coded input values are acceptable

Summary

This utility provides a simple way to refresh where-used information for ABAP package content.
