SAP Cloud Logging

An instance-based observability service built on OpenSearch that stores and analyses logs, metrics and traces from Cloud Foundry, Kyma, Kubernetes and other runtime environments.

Logs, metrics and traces from SAP BTP workloads go into an OpenSearch-based instance of SAP Cloud Logging through an OpenTelemetry format API, through a JSON format API, or as the application and request logs Cloud Foundry emits. The data is kept for a configurable retention period, which size-based curation overrules when the disk runs full. For SAP BTP, Cloud Foundry Runtime and SAP BTP, Kyma runtime it ships predefined content for the load, latency and error rates of an application's requests; custom dashboards and notifications are built in its web UI. Users and group-based access are managed with SAP Identity Authentication Service.

What it does

The receiving end of both routes. Its catalogue record states that it ingests logs, metrics and traces over an OpenTelemetry format API and keeps the ingested data for a configurable retention period, and that it ships predefined content for Cloud Foundry and Kyma to investigate load, latency and error rates.

Remaining work

Create the instance with OTLP ingestion enabled, and build or adopt the views the signals are read in; the predefined content is per runtime environment and not per application.
